  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Big Change...

Scarlet 4K -- "4K for less than $4K." It'll have a 2/3-inch 4,096 x 2,304 Mysterium Monstro and run at up to 200 fps. The fixed-lens version will have a 10x (7-70 mm) constant T2.4 zoom and sell for less than $4,500, ready to run right out of the box (except for storage).

I knew you'd do the right thing and listen to your conscience, Jim.

Way to go! We're all excited.

they figured out that if you reverse polarity on the mysterium chip - it becomes a 4K projector...

I'm thinking... Jim hit his head last night, after which he had a revelation on how to create the flux capacitor!
Now we can travel back in time to film things in high resolutions instead of that crummy VHS camera.

That's what I'm going with, i don't even care what the news is on Dec. 3 (well maybe a little :nerd:)

I don't want to sound pessimistic, but at this point the only BIG CHANGE I could imagine to warrant such a announcement would be the change to the delivery schedule. Jim, you had me at 2/3" 3K-res 120 FPS fixed lens - regardless of the price. Anything better is fine, but I would opt for sooner...

I really admire what You guys are doing, and I don't want to spoil the fun You must be having in Lake Forrest... Maybe just dedicate a small unit to get the basic Scarlet with the fixed lens out the door ASAP, while You guys keep ever improving the Battlestar Jannardica DSMC concept...

What ever You are cooking - it can't be out soon enough...

You know I am with You all the way - no matter what...

:) Peter

Ahahaha! This is like a spy novel now.

I can't say I'm complaining, but I do hope you guys eventually freeze the specs and start finalizing the damn thing.

Anyway, looks like I'll have to actually do those side projects and save the money for the fixed lens Scarlet after all. Even if the whole thing lets me down, extra money is never a bad thing to have. :whistling:

You guys are killing me! As if the 13th wasn't enough... RED sure knows how to keep things coming!

I think he matched the DR and sensitivity of the best film stock.

This better be good Jim... not I believe, period, completely believe in Red and that this will be better than the 13th...

...he never gave us the "real specs" till they actually did it... and it must look sick for him to say something like that so blatantly...

muahahaah... ...please, oh PLEASE let it be something as MIND-BOGGLING AMAZING as smaller photosensors with film like sensitivity and DR, something that will finally get those liars over at other forums to 57FU.
