  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Big Change...

If you keep up the pace of these announcements,
all the wives of DoP's will get together and start Redaholics Anonymous.

If this is the rate of change you are throwing at us... I can't wait to see what the Epic and Scarlet will truly be once you actually start to ship them..

Oh well, i supposed we're attracted to this company because maybe we are a little unpredictable too... :)

Tom, is that a real statement from your sig?

Lol, yeah. Karl actually encouraged me to use it as my sig. :)

Those guys are having a tough time with all this new digital stuff. Their heads are still spinning. They used to be able to bash Jim as a "conman" and vaporware salesman, now they are not quite sure how to attack him.

New announcement on Dec. 3rd. Everything has changed... just as we promised. :-)

Jim

I don't know if I'm more exited to visit your posts this days or just scared S%$#@less!!

I absolutely LOVE what you have announce on the 13th, so I truly hope that the changes continue to be as Insane as they have been so far!!

ciao

BEANS... Please spill some BEANS Jim!:w00t:

Is it bigger than a Bread BOX?? Did you accept a position in the FCC??

Will the United States lift the ban on Cuban cigars???

The 13th was insignificant...

Jim

Jim just bought ARRI... :innocent:
New RED Monstro Primes T1.0 - complete set @ $25K...
Ahh, did I mention... ...pick your mount!
:w00t:
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
...one more thing...
They bought Kodak too...
RED now supports film as well...

Change is cool and all...but is there a point in time where we stop making changes and actually start making some cameras? I can't imagine cameras being produced if all these new "change" announcements continue from month to month...

am I wrong?...hope I am

Yes your off base....this team continues to push the envelope to build the best camera at an unheard of price tag...Why would we not want the best???

Technical advances will benefit us all!

Wow, I can't keep up. Just when I think I know what to expect, you guys zag again.

Here's a question Jim, will we be disappointed? :)

Jim

Wow! Did you actually write that?

Perhaps you're becoming the "Tony Stark" of Digital Cinema, and perhaps part of this good news will be 14 bit A/D converters on Scarlet etc instead of the 12 already mentioned, or how about a Super35 sized Monstro sensor???

because at some point you want to put something out there......
then keep on making it better.

example

DVX100
DVX100A
DVX100B

EX1
EX2
EX3

...far inferior examples, but each revision had improvements....

I know RED can put out some amazing products...I just don't want to see delivery dates pushed back just becuase technology can be improved. That is a matter of fact...we will always be able to make things better and cheaper...

EX1
EX2
EX3

I see your point, but I have two disagreements.

1) They never made an EX2, they went right from 1 to 3.

2) At some point the change needs to stop, and the camera needs to be manufactured. At this point, Scarlet is still so far ahead of the competition that any improvements from this point on are probably going to be small.

Jim, please prove me wrong on my last statement, but at this moment, I don't see what they could possibly do. Then again, I couldn't see what they could have made better when they FIRST announced the scarlet.
