  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

BETA RELEASE: REDCINE-X and REDline (Build 261)

Ah ok -- your question makes more sense now.

Yes, the three values represent the rgb color components, respectively, for that particular position in the frame. The values shown are representative of the pixel AFTER color correction.

Are you the programmer? If not, then to my knowledge the values are not documented.

What color space? Are those 32 bit RGB values in REC709? Or RedSpace? Can I translate from RedSpace to REC709?

In Apple Color identical looking values represent RGB IRE units as you'd see on a RGB Waveform monitor - and that's not documented either.

Joel,

I'll see about the documentation issue.

The color space is whatever you have selected in the Look Control.

Each component is 8 bit, scaled to the range 0.0 - 1.0.

Great, thank you.

8 Bit scaled to 0.0 - 1.0. Good to know. Is there some reason that's preferable to just showing the 8 bit values?

We post these builds to get feedback on the status of the build so we can continue to improve stability based on the current feature set. If we get 90% feature requests, then it doesn't provide the feedback on the current state that we really are looking for.

There's a never ending stream of feature requests that we get daily in other threads and tons of email. Our feature request list is hundreds of items long and growing so please keep the discussion to how this build functioning rather than new features.

Neither one is preferable to the other.
At some point we'll add 8/16/float as a choice.

Brent, Is there a separate link for Redcine X 261 and Redline 261? It's an internet time-constraint problem at my end. Downloading them separately will solve that.

Thanks.

Hi I just wanted to add my two cents.
I noticed a significant improvement on set today when I upgraded to 261 (transcoding to DNXHD).
I was reluctant to upgrade before testing thoroughly but simply havent had time. 261 seems to batch to DNX alot faster than previous versions without any major hiccups. I had V252 which was hanging several times this morning and crashed during a "may as well try" overnight render.
I am batching 100gb or so to DNX overnight to DNX and will post how it worked out.
I can't wait till RCX is stable enough to transcode overnight while I sleep...as opposed to sleeping in 1hr increments to check that everything is working.

Hi
I tried to use the color picker yesterday to get a neutral color setting, and got the well known Kelvin 1700 issue instead.
I thought the bug was fixed long ago. Is it? I´m on build 261, do I do something wrong?

Best

WTF behavior with Redcine-X 261: I converted 4KHD R3D to ProRes LT with Redcine-X 261 on a MacPro and I got some clips with _S000 at the end

When you're rendering (from a timeline for example) several small parts from the same (long) clip, REDCINE-X will add _S000 then _S001 to each exported quicktime files to avoid overwriting the previous one... (it can be disabled in the export preset but then you'll end up only with the last bit you've used so having those subclips labelled _S000 etc is actually very useful)

Just installed 261 on a MAC Pro with RED Rocket. With the new v1.1.3 drivers/firmware. I can only open it up 1 time. After I close redcine-x it will not open up again, If I redownload it I can get it to open up once and then no more.

I am running Leopard. Any ideas?

did you drag the program icon into your applications folder?

Browser / Bin observation/request in Build 261

Browser / Bin observation/request in Build 261

The Bin in file view is sortable by file name which is great.

If you switch to Thumbnail view after this is maintains the sort by file name which is great.

However if you drag from browser to Thumbnail view Bin it does not sort (even though this preference is set in list view) meaning at the moment you have to drag to File view Bin, and then switch to Thumbnail in order to maintain the file name sort.

Can you make it so the sort preference, once set, applies to both Thumbnail and List views when dragged from the Browser?

I spend 99% of the time in Thumbnail view so this would be really helpful....

Thanks

Joe,

Indeed I did drag the program into the applications folder, I also opened it right after unzipping it.

***Figured out the problem***
I deleted the Redcine folder from Library folder and that fixed the problem.
