  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Beta Camera Build 3.2.8

Thanks Jon. Do you know how to wirelessly pair the Redmote like Trent mentioned?

Yeah, It should be settings - REDmote - scan for REDmotes- Pair

Thanks Jon. Do you know how to wirelessly pair the Redmote like Trent mentioned?

Not Jon, but I just paired my Scarlet to my REDMote by doing this:
With the brain and REDMote turned on,
Settings>Setup>REDmote>Scan for REDMotes
Once the Brain finds the REDMote, choose it and click pair. Then pair your Epic or Scarlet from the dialogue that appears on the REDMote

thanks guys but you can only pair wirelessly if you have the TouchLCD or Side Handle which I do not have nor do not want.
Only way to pair a redmote with the brain is to Dock it which requires taking off the bolted on battery plate.

Got it!
I didn't have any issues before but I will sit on this one and watch the threads=) Hey RED team is there any harm in doing my own commercial for the Scarlet? Just to play around and post on you tube or something?
I won't say or do anything that down plays the camera or the company...If so send me your permission. Or can I just do skits to test the camera?

Hey Red Team
I know I am beating a dead horse but there is no harm in asking for slow mo in 2k or 3k because I really need it.
I don't have the cash to rent a Epic for one or two slow mo scenes in my movies and the after market twixtor is not a solution.
Idea......what about a firmware update that will put the camera in a slow mo setup with a high frame rate like 200 -300 2k or 3k? After I use it I can roll the Scarlet back to the regular firmware update =)

Oh well...it was an Idea=)

Mostly I'm loving 3.2.8 but I've noticed a couple of got ya's.

If you don't have a touchscreen and are only running a redmote and EVF; there is a option to turn off the navigation keys when you lock/create a lock for the side handle. This basically locked me out of being able to control the menu via the side handle and meant I had to do a force upgrade to 3.0.0 so reset it all, then re-upgrade again - not too painful but not great.

Also, desperately need to be able to run menu navigation over both HD-SDI and in the EVF simultaneously!

Anyone else using 3.2.13? I am curious to hear a few more thumbs up before trying it myself, lol.

By default you can toggle the side handle key lock by pressing the 1 and 4 keys on the side handle simultaneously.

Are you saying that when you had the side handle keys locked you were unable to navigate the menus using the REDmote?

BETA v3.2.13

Went on fine on our Scarlet and Epic this morning.

[h=4]Significant changes since previous build v3.2.8:[/h]
  • Fix for record error 0×00001E seen on some cameras
  • Fix for multi-clip load issue in Playback
  • Fix for audio in HDRx mode
  • Added HDMI 1080p/720p refresh rates of 24,25,30,50,60
  • Enhanced Gyro collection
  • Enhanced Playback load notifications
[h=4]Operational notes specific to Build v3.2.13:[/h]
  • Sensor Flip disabled
  • Detaching monitor during playback will require reboot on monitor re-attach
  • Camera powered by RED BRICK may display voltage instead of battery capacity on some cameras.
  • EVF black level raised in some cases
  • ISO setting limited to min of 250
  • Image Magnify is available during preview, but not during recording.
  • HD-SDI is True Progressive and does not support 1080i or 1080 PsF signal formats.

in case anybody followed my recent posts -> the shoot on 3.2.8 went well -> no problems or glitches at all; phantom power worked as advertised, 5K HD is also very nice. Didn't have additional monitors attached (touch LCD only) so I can't comment on the monitoring part...

as for the 3.2.13 update;
on the first boot after the update I had a "split" LCD screen -> the right half was white, left side was fine. Didn't try to un/re-plug the cable this time and just shut down the camera -> at the next boot everything was fully working and fine - proper picture, proper behavior and so on. Everything is running smooth now and I'll stay with the beta-build (5K HD and phantom power is a big plus for me so I can totally justify using a beta-build at our current project [which are more like IV-stuff, nothing "big" or "critical"])...

No I'm saying that I was unable to navigate at all as I hadn't updated the redmote and was locked out of the side handle :-)

i was happy shooting on 3.2.8 today, and somewhere near the end of the day, i press rec and suddenly the left side of the screen goes pink, and i get the "error 0x0000001e with contact red and shutdown". BUT now i can't seem to get rid of this one, i force_upgraded, upgraded to every firmware from 1.7.1 till 3.2.13, and nothing solves it.... No histogram, left side of lcd pink, left side of hd sdi similar pink. 1:1 show full screen dough, and when i press rec, the error and shutdown.

I contact red, they said the camera has to be sent in :( Is there somebody else having similar problems of have a solution??
