  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

BeSteady FOUR Thread

Hello Guys,

we have commenced tests of revoked electronic boards. Initial tests are looking promising, but we need to make full trails to be absolutly certain, that all is working top notch. We will make endurance tests after that and if all will be complete we will confirm production of those electronic boards and I will be able to give you precise time schedule.

Yes, we will be able to build 24 units in next batch as most of production power will be focused on finishing your group buy. It's very important for us to deliver you units as fast as we will be able to.

I will keep you updated.

Best
Peter

Will I, the person who is responsible for the Beast's existence, be getting a unit that functions?

Hi Guys,

yes, we are willing to help Carey out. But he needs to ship his unit to Poland first, otherwise he will be forced to pay taxes again for replacement unit. We can send him new unit only by following very strict custom rules and laws to avoid that and I believe everybody will understand that. It can't be done in any other way I'm afraid.

Carey I have send you PM, please respond to that.

Best
Peter

Hi Guys,
I have problems with my BS 4 :
I tested with 2 cameras: a RED Epic and a small camera.
Balancing tilt axis : perfect
Balancing roll axis : not perfect but almost. I can’t adjust better for both of cameras.
Balancing pan : perfect.

When i turn on the besteady with the follow mode, the stabilizer vibrates and makes noise (with the two cameras !). It's not usable...
But when i disable the follow mode, the stabiliser works very good !

An idea ?

Hi Piotr,

Do you have any updates on the upcoming firmware release?

Thanks.

Hey Piotr,

Glad to hear about the new electronic boards. Do you have any details on a program for upgrading existing units in the field, and how long turnaround will be to ship from US to Poland, make the swap, and send back?

Thanks,
-Jordan

Hello Guys,

we have encountered slight problems with previous prototype boards - some components were soldered in wrong places so there was no place for cables to be put inside. We have corrected that problem and we can show you final design that is being tested currently. This 2nd iteration design works like a charm and it fits as it should inside of vertical arm.

We are doing extreme overpower tests during this week, if those will go fine we are moving to production from Wednesday next week.

I would like to remind you that all existing BeSteady FOUR / ACR The Beast will be upgraded to v2 free of charge. All you will have to do is to contact me so we can coordinate time when you will be able to ship your units for this upgrade. It will be relative easy procedure and we will upgrade power plugs to LEMO standard as well during that upgrade.

Main differences between currently used BeSteady FOUR / The Beast mainboard (primary board) and new design called The Beast V2:
- higher power output on external power sockets (on vertical arm and on camera shelf), 5A with 16.8V, it was 5A with 12V before;
- higher currency output on external power sockets, 16.8V (direct output from battery with fuses and electronic security);
- both DC connectors on vertical arm may be used as a input or output;
- (not electronic related) new DC standard for vertical arm: LEMO connectors;
- almost no heating of mainboard when using high power output;
- virtually no time limit for long operation with high power output being used;
- Bluetooth module moved to OnBoard Manager board (secondary board), less shielding from electronics and enclosure, longer range;
- shelf IMU and encoders secured with antinoise filters and secured with diodes;
- overall less noise (i2c erros) and much better wiring solution inside;
- mainboard is shorter, more place for cables in top part of mainboard;
- changed location of encoder connectors, shelf IMU connector, ROLL motor connector;
- no soldering on mainboard, everything connected via NSR, MF30 and ENN connectors;
- still using extremly powerful 13A 3-phase motor drivers capable of doing much more than needed for 6 kg setup;
- signal lines and electricity separated on PCB paths, much shorter paths and more robust/antinoise design;
- still using 4-layer PCB.

I would like to thank Michael Kromschroeder for his help and consulting. His idea for power solution is used in The Beast V2 mainboard.

Best
Peter

Thank you!!!!
This drawing was send 2 years ago to Bestaedy.
The solution is here now!
Thank you.

So, will we need Lipo to Lemo connectors to use the existing large batteries?

Hi Piotr,

I have PM'd you about this upgrade. If you need me to communicate via acr-sys.com, please let me know your e-mail there..

Thanks,

Mike.

Thank you Peter.

Can you please upgrade my unit as promised?

I expect to be able to have a working unit since I created this GB and have been sent 2 units that have never worked. And yes, I paid duties and taxes twice.

I applaud your efforts, but I can't say anything favorable until I get a unit that functions, as I have been promised.

Once I get a good working unit, I will shout it from the mountain tops.

So are we moving to production today, as per the last ACR post?
