  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

BeSteady FOUR Thread

Not sure if I'm the only one with this issue but I got a tracking number from Piotr 2 days ago. The tracking page today told me to "Contact DHL" (this is after the "Shipment received" message. I called DHL and they've told me that only the paperwork has been received and not the physical package itself. Is this normal?

Seems a bit unusual. Maybe check with Piotr and clarify?

My tracking number came Thursday, but the item wasn't picked up until Friday (and then went to the DHL facility and now, I assume is on it's way to the UK). Perhaps there's a problem with the paperwork for your country - I don't know when they flag customs type stuff (duty etc), I'd presume at the package destination, not the source.

My Way bill has the following:

1 Shipment picked up WARSAW - POLAND
2 Processed at WARSAW - POLAND WARSAW - POLAND
3 Departed Facility in WARSAW - POLAND WARSAW - POLAND

It was picked up in the afternoon and was out of the facility later that evening.

I'd call DHL again, and get them to double check, my feeling would be some type of Admin/papers for export might be needed.

Andy, will you be able to test your unit as soon as you get it? I wouldn't mind having a chat on Skype to see if yours has any of the same issues mine has. Let me know. Thanks!

Hi Carey - I probably won't be able to test it as soon as it arrives, in the middle of a 'not enough time' to finish CG job (waiting for test renders from the farm as I type!) - deadline is a little under 2 weeks away.

As is typical (for me anyway!) kit always ends up arriving at the wrong time... I'll see what I can do (but I'm a stabiliser noob, so I'd better read up on it to avoid any user error problems)... now, to find a link for the manual (I'll start digesting during tea breaks!).

I'll see what I can squeeze in :)

I can bring you up to speed very quickly and have you up and running in 20 minutes. I'd like to see if this new batch is working properly, or if it has the same issues mine has. Let me know. Thanks!
 
Thanks for the info Andy. I emailed Piotr on Friday and PM'd him as well, haven't heard back yet. Called DHL this morning and they're unable to explain why there's nothing in the shipment pick-up and once again told me to contact the sender. I think I'm the first receiver for Australia so that could be a reason, but it's all a stab in the dark until Piotr gets back to me.
 
I received my BeSteady today (DHL sent me an email this morning to pay the customs fee. Even though I provided payment within 15 minutes, the notification said that my package would now be delivered a day later as it was waiting for the NEXT delivery cycle due to the customs wait. I called and asked to pick up at the sorting facility, which is nearby, and would recommend anyone who wants their gimbal ASAP to try the same).

The Pelican case is a iM2875 case, with a BeSteady Logo printed on the label. The graupner remote control came as a separate package in its original box.

I have yet to boot up the gimbal yet. I'm still charging batteries. I have one of the small tubular batteries charged, waiting on the second. The charger provided is a simple Lipo/LiFe Balance Charger for 2s-4s batteries, so I've found several online that I could pick up so I could charge more batteries at once.

Is anyone able to download the BS4 manual from the new ACR site? I've tried on two devices and three browsers, all I get is gibberish text instead of a PDF. I've watched the BS1 tutorials, but they are only tangentially related to the BS4 and do not go into deep detail about how to set up the gimbal.

My main hinderance at the moment is charging the batteries, and trying to figure out how to mount the RED onto the BS4. Even with no camera, I have a lot of trouble getting the plate to mount reliably or smoothly in the clamp. Having used the Ronin a lot, BS4's version of dovetail does not have a lot of surface area that it clamps to, and worries me. I've registered a case with BS4 support with some questions, including this one, to see if I can get any farther with setup. Or when I have two small lipos charged I'll try powering it up.

Also, currently, it doesn't seem like you can download the BeSteady Manager from their website. This is frustrating. I would really wish they just finished the iOS app.

I'm glad it's here, its been a long wait, but there are plenty of things to learn, tweak, buy, and kit to get it up and running. Still waiting on that cable accessory pack...

Hi Jordan - glad yours arrived... mine started it's trip on Friday morning and has been to 2 places in Poland & was in Germany this morning... so I get the feeling it'll detour via France next, before eventually hitting the UK! Maybe it's ground shipping. LOL

On the PDF - do a 'save target as' and the PDF will save to your cache/local drive (etc) - I get the same garbage error when I click on the link directly (I'm Windows/PC), so might be a website bug.

On the Accessories pack - I think we're still waiting for confirmation of that and all our extras... so Peter needs to chime in on that front.

Looks like Carey has got your six, so keep us updated on progress :)
 
Hello,

about delivery problems - in your packages are Li-Ion batteries considered DGR (dangerous goods) that are governed by IATA regulations. Some countries (like Canada and Australia) have strict rules prohibiting some or most of DGR to be shipped into their borders. That's why Pavitar unit was not sent - we have repacked it and send it without batteries - they will be going by different method (not air plane). We can't do anything about that and it might happen from time to time that we will encounter such situation.

About manual download problem. If you will be unable to download it directly from our website please send me e-mail and I will send it to you.

We will be posting The Beast tutorial movies shortly. I will inform you about that here and provide link.

Well, I was 17 on the list (last of the grey boxes)... and it's not been updated to reflect shipping yet.
