So - a while back someone from Bebob announced a really nice battery hot swap module that would allow you to swap a battery out while retaining power to the camera and accessories for a couple of minutes. Here's the link: http://www.bebob.de/produkte/?product=6608

I haven't been able to actually find anyone who sells this product and I've written Bebob a couple of times but never heard from them. Does anyone actually own this product - or know where I can buy it?

It looks like a pretty slick solution compared to the various hotswap solutions out there.

Tony,

there are BEBOB resellers in Danish neighborhood countries like Nederland or Norway

I'm considering to get BEBOB-ROUGE ML-120 price 399,00 € or Action Products SwapPack price 559.10 €

If somebody would tell us more about user experience from those two RED power products I would appreciate.

The Action Products SwapPack is very well made.
I do know Brian Goff, but he does not pay me anything to say good things about his products, he is also a great Action Cam operator.

Stephen,

thanks for the info and also The Action Products SwapPack is Dual Battery-mount that makes more sense just for about 160.10 € more.

I know a lot of people swear by the SwapPack, but I don't like it actually. I'd like something that is as low profile as possible. I know it's nice to have the option of putting two batteries on at same time, but it's a killer for an AC and operator in terms of weight. If I could mount it on the top with the empty slot facing down then I might consider it.

Tony,

I understood that can also work with one battery:

"Each mount has a D-Tap (both are under power even when only one batterie is mounted."

That probably means can work with one and also two batteries mounted on.

Don't get me wrong. I like the basic product - just not the mounting options. I'd like to be able to mount the battery on the top without it sticking out like the RED cradle does - or on the side. Having it on the back of the camera is a bad idea because it prohibits the operator to access the buttons and menus without having to bother the DP who is using the monitor.

Could be also that is possible to attach it on a side but we would like to ask Brian D. Goff to jump here and help.

... you can mount it directly on the RED Top Handle. Swapping still works perfect and you can order it for $ 768.- (without the 19mm mounting block).
Will be back on stock soon. Next to that we are also offing a swivel accessory for it. You will be able to order it separate or in a package. ... :-)

I use the Action Products when I'm in studio mode and don't mind the higher center of gravity. I point it up and toward the front so it does not impede access to the cameras rear screen and buttons.

The only thing I don't like about it is the fairly short spiral cable. For my set-up I'd rather have a longer, straight cable. One of the nice thing about the Action Products device is that you can "flip" the cradle. You put the new battery on, remove the old one and then spin the plate 180 degrees so the new battery is in the exact same location as the old one. This mean you never have to rebalance. Cool. The only problem is that the short cable makes this a bit of a wrangling chore. I think the spiral cable is a legacy from its original use on their stabilization rigs. I'll replace my cable in the near future to address this. A nice product.

Ironically, I still run it through my power break-out, hot swap box made by David Hable at Cramped Attic. Since were talking hot-swap here I can't recommend his stuff highly enough.

I have been using the Bebob unit for a couple months -- ordered it directly from the company when it was first announced.

Works perfectly.

Will be online some time this week. Next to that we are also offing the swivel now for it. You will be able to order it separate or in a package. ... :-)

Hi Tony,

We represent Bebob in the Americas. However, the Bebob Hot-Swap adapter is being handled directly between Bebob & the End-user.

In the past couple of weeks, Bebob has been operating on limited cylinders due to circumstances beyond their control. Nevertheless, it appears all is well and they should be able to help you @ info@bebob.de.

Nevertheless, I will ask Bebob to contact you with more details.

Thanks Michael. That's the e-mail address I wrote to. Hopefully they'll get back to me soon.

Toni, all our 12 REDs are equipped with the ML120 - this is a perfect tool and worth every eurocent...

I just got this in the door. Super nice product!
