  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Base i/o package...

Nick, been discussed awhile back. Packages are what they are. We did deposits and our supply chain was based upon those. Adding a variation would throw that out of whack. Remember, in Mg Upgrade you are getting brain plus a bunch of AKS for the same price as brain-only for non-upgrader. We did a $5000 price decrease on W Mg Upgrade. We also offered a (now unavailable) $5000 accessory credit. Between the REDVOLT XL Module being "free" and the price drop/credit, the V-Lock Expander Module should be pretty attainable without having to create an alternate package.

But wouldn't that make the included expander and Redvolt XL module kinda DOA? Meaning, it's just a bunch of tech to be resold as "brand new used gear". I mean it's probably not a problem getting them sold, but feels like a waste to get new gear just to sell them as soon as they are through the door.

Would be nice if the v-lock were included and Red kept the regular expander and Redvolt-XL and the price of them went into the accessory credit as an add on, then it would be brand new gear sold to others but without us "loosing" their value in the package deal. Like, no need to change the price of the package, just a choice of not including those and take their value and add to the accessory credit, that way we could use their value on the v-lock and balance the cost out. I just thought it would be better than many of us getting gear we won't use I mean.

But I'm just rambling thoughts here... so, not too serious.

Easier said than done. We are already giving them to you free. So not going to remove them and add to the accessory credit.

Certainly not DOA as with the package you have more flexibility as the power and I/O expanders are different modules, not all-in-one.

Yeah, I was just letting my mind wander. What I think I meant was that if they are considered "ours" for free, then letting them stay at Red as new modules for sale in the store is a kinda "buy-back" where the value goes into the accessory credit. Theres really no difference since if we get them and sell them ourselves that value is just handled in our companies and not at Red. My point was that instead of generating a large number of unused modules for us who really only want to use V-locks attached to the camera directly, we could handle that "value-transfer" before shipping, making Red have a large number of perfectly new modules to sell at full price, instead of a large number of users selling them as "used" gear even though they are new. Since we get them "for free", Red loose if we just sell them ourselves, but changing packages with accessory "cashback" gives Red the ability to sell these modules as perfectly new while we who ordered still have their value worth.

I'm just thinking about the hazzle of selling them as "used" gear compared to selling them from Red as new gear. For me and I think others as well, these will be modules that collect dust on a shelf if we don't sell them directly.

I get that there might not be any change for this as of this moment, I'm just laying out my thoughts on this.
