  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Backorder Update - November 8

Got tracking numbers for my Canon mount  Ordered day one.
Thanks Deanan & Dan

MATE!!!!!! they must have sold literally thousands of these mounts on DAY 1 order and you get your tracking number now? ...
Shessh... mine must be absolutely months away !!!

Ok.. time for an update :)

PRO/IO - Production tooling finally kicked off. Still needs FCC certification when it comes out of fab, which means Likely April.

So will we be able to put a deposit down in 2011 to avoid the January 1st price increase ($2950 -> $3750)?

"We won't raise prices on the other bits until you get a chance to reserve and lock in your pricing... You will get at least a 2 week head start beforehand.. Even if it means pushing the price increase date for those products out a bit.

After all.. it is not your fault we are late, right? Seems pretty fair to me."

Really? I have never been told what place I am in queue when I preorder or how many units a manufacturer is delivering.

BC

For the record - Rogers (here in Canada) has a pre order/back order system for buying an iPhone. When they take your deposit you are given the exact number of how many people are ahead of you (I was 530) and you can log into your account day or night and see exactly where you stand at that particular moment.

Now Red is a private company and doesn't wish to disclose sales numbers so you probably don't want to give that much information away, but the technology does exist and it is being done. On the upside, with that sort of system I have a feeling your BS reps would be a lot less busy!

Just wanted to drop a few dates for you guys to keep you in the loop on how things are going.

REDMOTE - All orders up to last week should be shipped between now and December 15th.

It's now December 18th and I haven't even had an email about my Redmote, never mind actually receiving it :-(

hmm, that should be me too ^, perhaps it is still coming, would be great.

Just to keep it fresh in case it gets lost,

Any idea on the Scarlet Tactical cage shipping? Purchased mid november.

This is what I'm curious about. Any time I've ever ordered gear that was a pre-order I've been told exactly what place I am in line and approximately how many were coming in per shipment, and so it was pretty simple to self estimate when to expect these things.

Wow, really? I am as frustrated as anyone else with information flow.... In the course of my career I've ordered many cameras, lenses etc. in the $50-100K range from a variety of large manufacturers, and no one is even close to the kind of system you're talking about. Usually my sales rep will give me a call when the item in question arrives at their shop for an engineering QC check, which means that it's a few days away from me. That's really not all that different than what Red is doing.

What I would appreciate from Red is a page on their official site with the latest information on backorders and information on upcoming modules - update it once a week, twice a month, whatever. That way I wouldn't have to plow through threads with 50 pages of posts to find one nugget of actual information.

I predict the AL Canon mount Scarlet-X orders starting to go out mid January, given the current status of the touchscreens and the side handles. Also, an educated guess; they're making 12-15 Scarlet cameras a day, which is why they're sending out PL orders now. I think the thought process must be "if they're ordering a PL mount camera, more than likely, they've already got/had a RED camera and it's accessories" Along that same thought process: "if they're ordering a Canon mount Scarlet-X, they're coming from the DSLR realm and will be confused by not getting the sidehandle and lcd screen at the same time as receiving the camera"

Anyone think I'm completely off base with the above?

I got the same impression when I had to call and deposit my funds. They told me on the phone that they are shipping the Scarlet with some way to operate the camera. So that means a Side handle or LCD or some combo thereof.

Hi Mark,
I ordered my Canon Mount Oct 5th and today I got word that it could be shipped. So it seems like they are speeding up quite a bit. However I decided not to go for it as I ordered the 17-50 Zoom instead. Much based on seeing your setup of the Epic (and watching some of your work on your page).
Cheers!

Received notification from my Bomb Squad Rep that my accessories are now up for processing, Red Touch 5.0" LCD and plus some extra goodies. Just waiting on the Scarlet X body with AL EF Mount and DSMC Side Handle. Very exciting.

In the last few weeks I've shot with the Epic, "blue cam", and a DSLR on both large budget productions and an ultra low budget teaser. Soon all of that will be on Scarlet. Can't wait.

Quad Battery module - slipped a bit.. Starts to ship mid January.

Module Adapter - Starts to ship mid January.

Quad Charger - Begins shipping January 14th :)

Hi Jarred, any chance we can see pics of these? When will they hit the store?

Tx

PS: Just received my Epic yesterday... I'm like a kid with a tenner in a strip club on a friday night...

Congrats Phil!

Got my email today... ah the final "hurry up and wait"

Jarred - just an idea - since things seams to come in and out (and back "in") of backorders it would be great to have somewhere here on the forum or on the online store a section with up-to-date status on all crucial pieces of equipment - even just a sticky with the key components and status constantly updated by BOMB SQUAD would be much appreciated...

Thank You

Peter
