Not the most beautiful footage. But did a little test for a DoP to show that he can shoot Anamorphic for 16:9 and work with only 40,65,100mm Orions.

The trick is to use monstro with 8,7 or 6k ana x2 with cropping ratio 8:9 in camera. Then he gets rather small files and he gets 3 different zoom factors out of each lens that makes a nice ladder from 8k 40mm to 6k 100. So 1/3 the lens swapping and less data.

The producers wanted him to shoot Alexa LF Open gate prores 4444 to save money. They said red is so difficult and eat so much disc-space... Well my reply to that was to shoot 8k 8:9 2x ana 1:10 compression with prores 2k LT proxies on the side. That gives about 1/3 of the data rate and they do not need to render any offline proxies as they would have to do with the LF... And yes they also get raw.

8k 2xAna 1:10 Monstro file with proxy, next to the same file rendered to Alexa LF open gate resolution.... the numbers are 16,1GB vs 47GB... And yes sure you can lower the compression rate on monstro to half that, it still wins the less data race and yes DIT does not to render dailies for editing. Whats not to like for the producers?
