ASC Magazine RED Ads

Love it, great quotes... Thank you Jarred and RED! This is awesome!

Very nice Jim and Red Team! This was a smart, classy move and since the Epic came out, I think from both sides of the equation involved (from the old-guard establishment, to the new up-start company with something to prove) great progress has been made in establishing Red as a major contender in the digital motion picture imaging arena. I suspect many new doors will open from this path onward.

Cheers!

Very elegant ads. Simple and powerful. So very glad I plopped down my deposit way back in 2007. Can't wait to see what you guys come up with in the next 5 years.

When are we going to see some type of poster in the RED Store for us owners/fan boys to purchase? If I have movie posters in the office, an equipment poster is just as relevant.

Second that. Would look great in my Office. And great marketing for those using Red for business!

Jarred and Jim - you know this means you can no longer say "we don't know what we are doing" right? :sifone:

I'm not one to often get on here and fanboy out... but this is pretty cool. I gotta stand back and look at where my path as a filmmaker has taken me and how much RED has allowed me to capture what I want exactly how I want.

Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Kris Kristofferson... legends all captured with a RED... great stuff and thankful its future proof for archival.

Latest branding video I directed... no HDR, just me my scarlet, models and some good friends holding reflectors. casual shoot... maybe a few beers.

thank ya sir... Its amazing what you can accomplish on RED with very little. Again... you make it to nashville I owe ya some dranks around town.

Jarred

We have had many discussions the two of us about pros and cons of advertising. And I am so happy about this. I really believe this is a good idea.....
Thank you.

We are proud to acknowledge the great cinematographers that are shooting RED, and have began a campaign in the ASC magazine recognizing their efforts.. This month issue is just the beginning.. go pick up a copy and check it out.

Here are the first 3.

FINALLY!!!

I'm a member of the magazine, and getting real tire of the ABSURD amount of ARRI's ALEXA advertisement, at last I get to see my BELOVED RED EPIC on it too... ;)

Yes indeed.. thanks for you advice and feedback along the way.

I remember when i first got into this game, every month when the new issue of the ASC magazine came in I would always flip to the Kodak advertisement first to see which cinematographer Kodak decided to give kudus to. As you can see... that really stuck with me.

I gotta tell you.. as simple as it looks, this stuff is much more difficult than I first imagined it would be to get together. Jim warned me, and when you have the best guy in the world at this stuff tell you it's not going to be easy, you pay attention. He sure was right.

I think it was worth the effort... Really glad that you guys like it.

We are very fortunate to be in a position to give back to the incredible cinematographers that took a chance on the little guys and used RED.

I want these ads in RED store as posters!

Jarred...

I have been wondering about this.
But it is kinda obvious when I see it.

Everything in life changes... so does RED.
Main thing now is to work on perception...

RED started out with "me" as the most obvious customer and advocate.
A strong dreamer with some skills to go with them and a willingness to learn new shit and create stuff I couldn't earlier access.

+ being comfy with solving riddles as they popped up, and not worrying too much about conventions...

And that kind of user is still present.

And "I" as a user have changed a bit over the years...

But I think you are right in that that RED as a company, needs to focus on the high profile users - with images to go with them, to continue to penetrate high budget markets in more countries.

Images say more than 1000 words.
Spiderman looked good.
Works.
I have high hopes in Gatsby. 2D stuff is needed, too.

And to rasie conciousness on the fact that by now:
Actually it just works and looks great if you know how to expose and frame (which you need to know anyway...)

is one of the most important aspects of the message to get out these days IMHO.

In the beginning, it "just worked" too, but there has been many complicating perceptions on workflows and imagetreatment that has made many think the system is "geeky" and "techy", not at least because of elaborate workflow posts and examples over here.
We, the userbase, have mostly been good for reds redp, but not only.

RED setting focus on how they want to be seen, is a wise move now.
And actually much appreachiated.

Funny how Tony Lorentzen has one perception of trends in Denmark, while I have another of Norway.
And that also shows the randomness and dependance on uncontrollable factors and weird personalities (like myself) as to how much the cameras are actually used.

RED making an image argument (not purely resolution) with simple quotes from people with a record, like this...
Just makes me breathe and smile.

Thanks for the ride so far.
And future looks like it's gonna be fun!

Cheers

G
