  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

April shipping update

Well if you believe in the literal since of vocabulary that's exactly what he said. IN BOLD even haha.
but again, he back tracked on the "after" orders, something about being slapped on the head, due to too many switch overs.
and again, brent clarified as well talking about time stamps take precedence on orders after scarlet-w announcement.

What don't you understand about this? The people ahead of you on Scarlet were the exact same people that were ahead of you in the Raven line. Scarlet dropped first...you are in the same EXACT place you would have been if there was no Scarlet whatsoever with respect to packages. Give it a rest.

Dont worry Phil... Your name is very close to the top of the 8k list. If this batch is good, you are going to have alot of new friends buying you drinks at NAB.

+1 for Phil, loved your forged video, love to see more out of you in 8K. Hopefully our path well cross at NAB this year.

I'm not sure I follow your point. We're talking about the mess that results from switching from Raven to Scarlet-W, which is a queue that includes a lot of people who had no part of the Raven queue. So most of the griping has been from those of us who had no Raven preorder and wondering where we stand.

But to Jordan's point, it makes a lot more sense for everything to be determined by the timestamp. I would obviously prefer if switching just re-queued you (like switching lines at the grocery checkout) but this process would be better than ALL Raven switchers getting first dibs, haha.

I was wondering if they would cut off the swapping ability after one or two weeks. Kind of like when they allowed you to get the $5,000 accessory credit & the discount on Weapon for a limited time.

cartman? haha!
remember he is now posting from his tesla...

Maybe he's getting some rest while it drives him just so he can drop bombs on REDuser at night ;)

That's what I thought would happen but apparently that wasn't the case. It's really in RED's best interest to get people to switch. More money and fewer backed up Raven orders to fulfill.

In fact I'm not interested in having a chat with Apple's CEO. What I'm interested in, is being able to buy a product when it's announced. I'm interested in the product. We've been using Red cameras since the very beginning. And you, when did you buy your latest Red camera ?

Im in line like the rest of us on a Scarlet-W. Also waiting, but with less frustration

yeah, i just ignored that comment because he obviously wasnt reading the back conversation on it all.

I believe this is the proper order for W:

1. Pre-W RAVEN orders (fulfilled by March 31-April 7th)
2. Post-W RAVEN orders (fulfilled by NAB or soon after)
3. S-D Upgrades
4. S-W orderers

I ordered the S-W in early January, so I never expected to be anywhere near the front of the line, and I'm fine with that. But if this is true (as it appears in Jarred's post) then the line will just continue to get longer instead of shorter. I mean, should I just go order a Raven and then switch to W? It would be nice to see some clarification on this, as it looks to a lot of us who pre-ordered the S-W that the line will just continue to grow in front of us as more people, who ordered a camera after us, get bumped to the front by switching. Hoping I've just misinterpreted all if this.

Jordan clarified in another message that this isn't the case... Basically as we understand it, all orders will be fulfilled by timestamp. Now, of course the unpredictable variable is people still being able to switch to Scarlet-W and whether or not their Raven timestamp is before yours. In your case, someone who ordered Raven in late December would be ahead of you if they switched to Scarlet-W, but they would be behind me (Dec 10). Someone with a Raven order from mid-January would queue up behind you if they switched to Scarlet-W.

That would make a lot more sense. Hopefully that's the case.

I love the communication from the RED team, but it's a double-edged sword sometimes!

Maybe I'm just completely wrong, but I assumed they were following time stamp, which means between April 8 and NAB there's going to be so many SW's going out because of the first day orders. Would it be reasonable for SW Brain preorders made in the first couple hours to fall in that week? Jarred's post was sort of ambiguous so I was hoping for some official word on us non-Raven switchers. Having my brain by NAB would be perfect as I have a lot of productions starting that weekend (maybe some NAB love next year? I'll have to drop in and get you guys some drinks).

i think april 8th will be for the first raven or scarlet switcher package preorders, brain only might get allocations before that, like this week.

Let me try to clear up a few things...

What Jarred is saying is that if you ordered a RAVEN before the SCARLET-W announcement (12/10, 6:25pm PT) and you have already switched to SCARLET-W, we had hoped to get them all allocated by the end of this month. But due to accessory availability and increased number of people flipping from RAVEN to SCARLET-W, it is not going to happen. You are now looking another week or so. If ADDITIONAL people who were pre-SCARLET-W RAVEN guys NOW switch to SCARLET-W orders, that timeline will extend beyond that week or so. Pretty obvious, more orders means the target moves. So, again, the total pool we are discussing is anyone who had a RAVEN pre-SCARLET-W announcement. Jarred was simply giving a point-time-reference on where we are at.

So, when you take a step back, we really are fulfilling by time stamp across the board. By switching from RAVEN to SCARLET-W, we are honoring your time stamp of that RAVEN order. By default, you will be ahead of every person who ordered SCARLET-W on announcement date or later.

Next, is there any benefit from switching from RAVEN to SCARLET-W as far as ETA? Yes, as was stated a few days ago, we have more RAVEN orders than SCARLET-W. Second, we started fulfilling SCARLET-W a month before RAVEN. Thus, the timestamp for SCARLET-W orders we are processing is much later than RAVEN orders. Time stamp is king here, folks.

Wait, what about SCARLET DRAGON guys who are doing the special SCARLET-W bundle, you ask? Yes, those folks do get a bump in queue. But not a "front of the line" bump...

Yes, we are allocating accessories to both RAVEN and SCARLET-W orders as each come off the lines. We are not solely allocating them to WEAPON and/or SCARLET-W and hosing RAVEN folks.

As Jarred also said earlier in this thread, this is a very complex process with a ton of moving parts. It is almost as hard to explain as it is for you guys to digest. Just know we are going as quickly as we can and being as transparent as we can be. Once this bump in the road with limited accessories sorts itself over the coming weeks, the pipe really opens up.

As clear as it can get. I hope that the constant posters who ask the same thing over and over get the message.

Thanks a lot! It can't be clearer now.

No problem, guys. I could see a few folks going down rabbit holes, so I was hoping by re-stating in a different way might help. Glad it did!
