  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Anyone else feeling a bit uneasy?

Ever shot 4k on a Dragon? Looks incredible. expect the same.

Lol many times. New to Reduser but long time lurker and not new to RED at all. It's hard to expect the same when you know what it's supposed to look like and all the footage (yes I know not real tests/compressed/bad lighting) you've seen show you something else. Maybe it's paranoia and I'm jumping the gun a bit but I'm not convinced at this point. It's not terrible footage it's just not the normal RED look I'm used to and that's what I thought I bought.

Its not the Red footage that you are used to? Sure- because there are no lights and no camera movement, no production design... Must have forgot to apply the secret "cimemizer" plug-in that they give you a key-code to when you buy the Weapon. Point your eyes up to the way the highlights roll off of the ceiling and the way that the fixture rolls into overexposure on the far right. Looks like a dragon sensor to me.

Go back and watch the footage from Carrion, and wait for some proper footage. This camera is going to produce fantastic images. If it wasn't living up to the standards of the rest of the ecosystem RED wouldn't be releasing it.

im not saying I can't be wrong, I'm simply now asking the question for the extra $4500 do I just call Bryan and know I'm getting exactly what I thought I was, rather than having to make excuses and justifications 3 months from now...

There is zero difference in the sensors except size. If you need changeable olpf, lens mounts, and 5k... then upgrade. But either way the image quality will be the same. True the processors may differ but not the image processing as I understand it.

I admit, I share some concern. Even under identical and worse lighting circumstances I haven't seen Red footage that looked so much like Sony...the organic feel isn't there in any of the clips, and that is actually concerning. But I can't imagine Red would let a camera out into the wild that wasn't family stamped. I just can't imagine that. So I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that more footage will trickle out that looks closer to W's flavor here:

Fingers crossed.

Lol we need more of these cameras out here asap because I find this to be a little funny. Also the link you posted was GRADED and shot outside. The test in the gym looked fine for what it was quick and dirty everyone needs to listen to Aaron Rodgers,,,,,,,,,,

What gym footage?

Also - we just shot on a CF Weapon, and it blew my MIND. Raven at 4K should be INSANE.

Remember, the new DSMC2 bodies are nothing like the old cams.

As big a leap for me as MX was to Dragon.

Raven should be GREAT.

I think many would agree that just switching to an S-W is not going to make that gym footage magically "amazing".

Gym lighting is horrible and for what it's worth, setting the camera down and just hitting record, it looks pretty darn good.

Plus one on this. If you are going to cite a reference, a link is a good idea.

We shot this just for fun... Unplanned (lol)
Copy & paste from other thread;

Today's workout with RED Raven;
RED Raven + Rokinon 35mm + Jet pack + AC power + one 128G card + 5" touch Touch + Tripod + Me + MMA Trainer + his GYM and nothing else... Off course bunch of bottle of water...
Note: Please understand, no one is behind the Camera, It was only us two and Lens was on Infinite (try not to blame the sensor). This was simply "turn on and press record" shoot - lol

This is the GYM with florescent...

I've shot on Red One to Dragon, and owned an FS700/O7Q for 2 years. The Raven footage looks great, does not look like Sony whatsoever.
