Usually, by this time, we've had a lot of news from the guys at RED about what they're going to be releasing at NAB...but not so much this year...

My guess is that the full focus of the RED team is on the upgrade process, but if there's anything special coming out, would love to hear about it.

Then again, with NAB starting so soon, I'm sure we'll hear something soon.

There is hope that RED has a "less is more" policy now. In REDs context I mean "less news is likely more accurate news"

Hopefully it isn't marketing theater like it was last year with the clean room sensor upgrades....A year later and still no Dragon sensor in my camera- and order was placed in early adopter cue on NAB Tuesday. sigh.

I think that folks are a little tired of announcements that don't ever become real, or ship WAY later than advertised, red knows this and hopefully is concentrating on fufilling existing products

I really wish that companies would only announce products that were immediately ready for a Beta release and not 1 year or more out from being shipped to customers. I know its not easy to know how close you are with technological advances and product supply chain etc but its really getting old. Its nice to know what a company is developing i guess but I wish that information was reserved to folks that have a relationship with that company rather than spouted out to the masses.

Interesting to see if REDs approach to PR changes this year.

I hope so. We ALL know ARRI has a 4K Alexa in the works, but they're not teasing it and not taking orders on it. I'd like to see RED adopt this principal.

Show us stuff that's basically right around the corner from being purchasable, or good to go. I think it'd take some strain off their shoulders as well.

Red: Please ignore the whiners. It is a tough job revolutionizing the industry in a few short years and some of us realize that. Patiently waiting with no complaints.

Red: please ignore the whiners whining about whiners.

Andy, if you think RED cant benefit from feedback then please continue to patiently wait in silence.

Maybe a newer dragon sensor with an additional years worth of sensor development, given that the current Dragon is probably a quarter of the way through its life span and the vast majority of us don't have it yet.

A) I'm not whining. B) My post is simply to give Red positive feedback so they don't get discouraged with all the negative feedback.

I can't afford a new camera but I can afford an upgrade. If the pain of the upgrading logistics and the associated flack is too great for Red, they'll stop doing it. So I'm voicing my feedback to let them know that I, for one, appreciate their efforts.

I believe Red is doing their best. I believe they are working at 110% to get the upgrades out the door. Their optimistic delivery dates are just part of their DNA. They have been trying to achieve the impossible for 7 years now so who can blame them for coming up short from time to time.

Where is their new PR Manager? This is more important than products.

I really don't understand the calls for "Don't announce it until it's ready to ship!" and "Don't show us how upgrades are done!" etc., etc.

Why wouldn't anyone want a look at the working of the inner sanctum or getting a glimpse of what the RED brain-trust is thinking in the way of new products?

If you can't handle "Everything is subject to change!" then maybe not having everything meeting YOUR timetable is a good thing.

It may offer you growth that you aren't getting elsewhere?

This.

If everything is subject to change then all announcments are potentially worthless/hollow.

Nothing odd in asking a company to stick to announcing things they can deliver. No one expects red to NOT announce anything. But im sure many will be happy if they listen to these complaints and cut back on the marketing bull.

Considering most of us are not early adopters, that's something I fear too.
If we were to reveice a two years old sensor, it would be bad publicity for Red considering other brand have finally take the 4k raw wagon and catching their schedul (even if it's not as good as Red).

But hey, I woudn't trade my Epic against a Sony, and one year behind schedule is still 2 years ahead any other brand.

oh man, I wish I had my Dragon in front of me. I'm sure I could amaze the Red team with my pictures.
