  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Announcing the RED DSMC2 Ultra Brite 7" monitor

Gonna be the guy that asks: Is there any consideration for a trade in from 7.0 touch to this model?

yeah, would be nice to send in my CF cableless 7.0 and swap/upgrade the screen (the early models were susceptible to scratching) & pay a fee, of course.. They don't sell the Carbon Fiber screens anymore...

I would kill for a 5 inch to 5.7" Hi-Res display with Cableless swivel mount, even if it's not Ultra Brite. But a ultra brite version would be incredible lol.

no swirl, rotation or mounting options on the camera? it's "just" the screen?
still missing the functionality of the old 5'7

It actually comes with the following:

1x DSMC2 Touch 7.0" Ultra-Brite LCD
1x LCD/EVF Cable (Right-To-Straight) - 18 inches
1x RED ARM - 9in
1x RED MICROFIBER BAG - Large

Will this have any enhanced support for focusing? peaking with selectable color?

I do like the idea of a dual mode brightness characteristic. One for high ambient light viewing and one for darker surrounds. I realize that the side arrows allow brightness adjustment, but it would be nice to have 2 "reference" levels pre-set to facilitate apples to apples visual comparisons.

Btw one feature wish I have for Red is to be able to zoom into the image just like smallHD can. I understand we cannot get 4k image, but still just a digital zoom is super useful for critical focus. We use it with the SmallHD sometimes, just zoom in at 200% or even 400%. Sometimes we have the normal Red screen on the camera and then put a smallHD on which is always at 200%, that way you can jump back and forth between them. However I would prefer to just have 2 Red monitors since they are lighter and easier to power.

The screen looks really great, but could maybe the UK price be a bit more similar to the USA price?

Currently it is £3450 which is equivalent to $4500 (22% higher than in USA). Most other products are much more similar in price.

Best,
Andreas

+1 on either a 5" or 7" Ultra Bright... but with the DSMC2 swivel mount so I don't need an arm.
