Can someone please answer this question:
After Scarlet-W ships, is it safe to say that Scarlet-Dragon HAS to have a price drop (presumably as well as other cameras like Epic-X etc, but for now let's focus on Scarlet-D).
But what would be the reasoning then for an inferior camera in the RED STORE to be priced $5000 more than a superior camera?RED is much akind to Apple. When new products are released, very, very rarely is there a fire sale on preceding models. Perhaps there maybe some BT units available at attractive pricing, but categorically your logic would not be a good strategy to expect a deep discount. The secondary market pricing may be affected, but again I wouldn't expect anything of this nature from RED.

The reason is. Scarlet-D brain is currently $14,500. It is a 5k dragon sensor that has specs inferior to Scarlet-W (worst framerate options, etc)
The Raven is $5995 for the brain and is a 4.5k Dragon sensor. The Scarlet-W will be $9995 for the brain and is a 5k Dragon sensor. So logic would dictate that Scarlet-D would have to be placed at $7995 right in the middle of those as its specs are directly in the middle, higher than Raven (at least resolution wise), and less than Scarlet-W.
Because my thinking is that if logic prevails and this is true, then the Scarlet-Dragon may actually be the biggest steal and best "deal" all around here at $8k bucks.
Can someone explain to me if my thinking is wrong and is Scarlet-D actually somehow still on par with or superior to Scarlet-W to warrant a price retention? Is it conceivable, and has it ever occurred before that Red would have an inferior Camera Priced almost $5000 more than a superior camera in the Red Store? (referring to Scarlet-D over Scarlet-W). Or am I missing something?
Well just to clarifyI'll sell you a Battle Tested Scarlet-D for $8k, not a new oneAnd no, the Scarlet D is not end of life and neither is the Epic-D. We have a lot of customers with huge million dollar capture infrastructures built around those cameras and they continue to buy and use them.
We have a pretty incredible lineup right now across the board that is pretty unbeatable along every step of price point.
Well just to clarify
1. I did specifically say Epic-X and Scarlet-X are EOL, ofcourse not Epic-D or Scarlet-D those are the bread and butter still flagship cameras
2. $8k battletested Scarlet-D is a great price. But I'm assuming you're talking about right now. I wasn't talking about right now. I was talking about 1-2 months from now when Raven and Scarlet-W are released. 1 month from now when Scarlet-W is released at $9995 brand new price, then $8k for Scarlet-D battletested is not that great of a price considering a brand new superior Scarlet-W is $9995. I'm trying to figure out what the Scarlet-D price will be reduced to when the Scarlet-W comes out.
How can the Scarlet-D which is inferior to Scarlet-W, be priced $5000 more than the superior Scarlet-W?
Scarlet-W brain $9,995 (superior camera)
Scarlet-D brain $14,500 (inferior camera)

... technically speaking, Scarlet-Dragon has a 6k dragon sensor (12 FPS). They are good for 6k stills + 6k timelapsing ... supporting the Epic Dragon main camera ... ;-))
