  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Announcing Scarlet-W

I hope so, but i have doubts. The website doesn't include it under the Scarlet-W

I did too.. Not to worry, im sure we will be seeing a lot of things like cases and 120GB mini mags for sale on this website soon enough. Kevin at Red also told me it wont take TOO long to get past all these bundle orders and the case should be up for sale on its own at RED.com

Allocations for SCARLET-W have not kicked off yet. Correct, a couple of weeks away.

No, that is the WEAPON package case. Since components are different for SCARLET-W package, different laser cutouts. But, promise me, you won't be disappointed with this case!

Great, thanks for the response. I guess I meant more roughly the size/style. Very cool that we're getting a case with it! Mine will probably live in my F-Stop bag most of the time, but it will help for rentals and gear organization when not on the job.

Josh, the main requirement on the cases was fit the gear included in each package plus slots for additional gear - and be airline carry-on sized...

Really sweet looking case! If the Scarlet-W case is anything like that I may have to upgrade to the Package deal!

I could be wrong, but my guess is that the case will have custom cut foam designed to fit just the Base I/O package elements. Meaning different accessories or modules may not necessarily fit the mold, so to speak. I, like others, migrated away from the Base I/O in order to dial in exactly what was needed. But, my 7" touch would probably run into snags with a case designed for a 4.7" monitor. There would be too many variables to make a custom case for every scenario. That said, I'd love to have one of those cases, too, considering the Base I/O package was split up in order to "upgrade" to even pricier gear. ;)
 
Cases "come with" (that is, no additional charge) with the packages. We will also offer each case a la carte. Of course, for example, if you ordered a SCARLET-W and a 7" LCD a la carte, you could go the route of the case that comes with WEAPON packages... In the past, we have only done one laser cut option, this time - two. So, a little flexibility for you guys....

Thanks, Brent. Even though I'm not on the receiving end of one of the cases, I still think it's a classy move on the part of Red. Just makes it feel like a cohesive, dialed in kit.

hmm...as I can see in store there is only one package - SCARLET-W BASE I/O V-LOCK PACKAGE.
Because there's no Scarlet-W Jetpack package I had to order brain plus all other accessories which all together costs more than would cost in some package.

agree 100%. and it will prob sell another couple hundred cameras @@

it's things like this that will push people on the fence to take the plunge..
 
Hey everyone, after much deliberation I'll finally be joining the family. Been a long time forum reader and have been lucky enough to shoot with RED several times, but not as an owner. Was on the hook elsewhere, but ultimately the community and all around quality helped sway the final decision and move to Red. Even though I might have had to put up a little more than originally intended, I have a good feeling it'll be more than worth it in the end.

Can't wait to get out and shoot!

Thank Brent for that one.. he has always been the Case Ninja but he managed to use his some extra superpowers to get all the Scarlet-W packages into these cases.
