  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I don't think it did. If you look at the specs, Scarlet-W is "only" 13.8mp sensor. Less resolution and higher crop factor. I personally think that, apart from the new sexy body (and if you really really need proves), the Scarlet-W doesn't have better specs than a Scarlet dragon in real work use. And if you used the Scarlet for stills, you are losing a bunch of resolution on the S-W. So I think the Epic dragon is 2 steps up from a S-W, and the price still reflects it.

Haha exactly, there is no Raven or Weapon. So I was checking the Epic Dragon datarate. Nevermind, I guess there is some difference between Epic/Scarlet Dragon and Weapon/ Scarlet W datarate calculation. I thought that having the same sensor it would be the same. Thanks for your effort to try to understand my wonky english and explanation though.
 
Kind of confused here. I have an epic dragon, but 20k to upgrade to weapon was just too much for me.

Now there is Raven-w at $5k. Scarlet-w at $10k and Weapon at $50k. am I reading this right?

EDIT. I see the Weapon MG at $30k. Makes sense now.

It isn't the same sensor I don't think. Epic Dragon is pushing 19 megapixels worth of data/second. Scarlet-W is pushing a 13.8 megapixel sensor. Not the same in terms of data there is to push anyway if that makes sense. Scarlet MX has a 14 megapixel sensor.

Correct, one or the other. Upgrade SCARLET DRAGON to WEAPON or get discount on SCARLET-W with a SCARLET DRAGON.

Logged in and I can't get the upgrade package deal by being an Epic Dragon owner. I'd much rather do this upgrade path and keep my Epic Dragon than the Weapon Dragon. Can you guys make this possible?
 
What is the base ISO of the scarlet W?

I'd like a moment to thank Brent for letting me not wait till NAB to release the Scarlet-W . That dumped alot of extra work on him and the rest of the RED soldiers to get this ready before christmas. But it just seemed like the right time to do.

From a customer perspective, I just thought it would of been a bit of a dick move to release Scarlet-W just after we caught up delivering Raven and the rest of the Weapon orders, and customers wishing they could of had this choice ahead of time. Of course that is the opposite of how businesses are supposed to release products to their customers.... but fuck it. Knowledge is power and you are all family. Even you cranky ones that complain all the time about everything.

So thanks Brent. I know I push too hard sometimes. And no matter how hard I push, you just never let me (or our customers) down. I couldn't do this without you.

O boy.. Love is in the air. I should probably go write some christmas cards before it passes :)

And with that post, I release all the troops still here at work with me.

I have been working with Jim for now almost 15 years between the O and RED. At RED working with you for almost 9 years. You two, from day one, as shooters yourselves, always said to put the customer first. So, I guess it rubbed off finally, haha.
