  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Announcing JETPACK for Weapon

+1 one

I have a movi 15 for use with paralinx sdi connection. I've looked at the SDI to hdmi converters, but the high quality ones are all fairly big and have power requirements.

I think a lot of people have commented on wanting the SDI and I use master primes when i shoot with the m15 so don't have a lot of clearence. Perhaps a carbon fiber jet pack that is SDI, maybe twice the price, but designed more for people shooting with cinema lenses & higher end transmitters?

Any word on the hd-Sdi version?

I'm replying to my own question, I just cracked open the Jet Pack and was successful in rotating the Lemo port to be compatible with the Helix, :wink5:

thats great to know because i was wondering the same for the Lemo 2 PIN 0B AUX POWER Ports on the Quickplate Module and the ne ET Weapon V Lock back.

so i guess there might be a chance that works there too ;)

I'm not trying to promote the idea of "cracking open" anything. I made it work with the jet pack, it's pretty easy in that case but in every situation you must be careful not to damage wires, or stretch them etc.

I thought the whole concept for the Jetpack was that it's a lightweight solution for gimbal/drone use. However, I see in the specs that it weighs 0.5 lbs; compared to the DSMC2 Base Expander which weighs 0.45 lbs and has more I/O. With this in mind, I don't see why anyone would want a Jetpack over a Base Expander (other than cost)...or am I missing something here?

Well, another difference is that the Jetpack's outputs go straight down instead of protruding horizontally. This can be an advantage when shooting hand-held as well as when mounted to a Drone or Gimbal. For instance... in the hand-held setup with a battery belt clip and the downward outputs you can tether the camera and rest it close to your body without accidentally bumping loose the HDMI or Power connection.

These are big enough advantages to me that I purchased both a Jet back and the v-mount base expander. We will see how everything plays out in practice I guess and if it's as big of an advantage as I think.

You may have a point there. I've never been a fan of battery belts though....

I'm not a fan of them either... however when I shoot event coverage I almost always shoot handheld. So, lately, I've been thinking a lot more about ergonomics and longevity. I've had plenty a sore back from holding the camera rig out in front of me for a full day shoot. So, I'm willing to give the belt pack a try :)

RED,

Could you advise if the HDMI output of the JETPACK would be compatible with the following sort of device:
Aizbo Full Hd 1080p

Is there an HDMI Dongle that RED has tested and is known to work?

(My interest is to use the Miracast wireless HDMI of a dongle to sent the RED GUI to the Epson BT-200 glasses for Gimbal control)

Thanks,
AJ

Hahaha , you will be so motion sick.
