Hi Titan Fans,
I just wanted to share with you my recent experience with the Titan rig. I have been fortunate enough to have been working with Anders, Kostas and Fredrik at AeonCine on the late prototype stage of the Titan, specifically, using the rig on shoots and providing feedback.
**Note: I am not being compensated, nor am I affiliated with their company.
I am currently working with a unit and I can say without hesitation it is fantastic! The design and functionality are simply the best I've seen. Any changes I've suggested are ones that have already been addressed by others here on Reduser so I won't go into every detail, but I will say that any issue with respect to functionality or any design wish I've presented has been promptly addressed by Kostas. In most cases he was already aware of those issues and had already begun redesign work.
There are many great features to the Titan but my most-liked are the following:
1. The top plate. I love the articulating handle! I am consistently changing it's position forwards and backwards. This takes all of two seconds. Great feature.
2. The arms. They are light, strong and just right. If you have really long arms like me you can get both your own arms and the Titan's out in front in a comfortable position. If your arms are shorter you can adjust the rig into a more compact setup. They work. Period.
3. The base plate. Light, compact and so easy to adjust. The clamp down levers for rods are smart and easy to use and adjust tension as needed. The quick release for the arms unit is genius.
4.The battery plate. Any which way but loose. I know I borrowed that from Clint Eastwood but its true. The battery plate and arm can be configured to suit your personal stye for optimum balance and functionality. You want it vertical, then set it that way. Horizontal, sure set it that way. Arm it up or down as you wish.
I'm really looking forward to the final iteration of the Titan. A tremendous amount of thought and planning has gone into making a modular package that offers solutions we all face when shooting. I've opted for the complete rig but the great thing about this design is you can add components as needed and as budget allows. I've got a piecemeal package of accessories that I put together for my Epic and all I can say is these guys (the braintrust at AeonCine) are about to kick some butt with the release of the Titan.
If you've been on the sidelines waiting for the Titan I can say without hesitation it will be worth the wait.
