  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Allstar lens is available - 80-200mm T3 PL and 50mm T1.5 PL

18-35 sigma and I'm in as well.

GL optics is offering the 18-35 Sigma fully rehoused. I'm in contact with Nan because of a rehoused Leica group buy, but I'm sure we can also do a group buy for the Sigma. PM me, if interested.

EDIT: Nan just wrote me and he's in for a group buy of the 18-35. I will post more details soon as well as password encrypted the group buy price for the lens on my blog.

Just got our AllStar 80-200 and did some testing with our Canon C300 PL. Looks very sharp on charts, no CA, good contrast. Slight ramping at very end of lens, about 5 IRE. T3.0 looked sharp and held contrast. Good feel from iris, zoom, focus. Iris ring stiffer than zoom and focus.

Focus breathes a lot. Very happy with apparent build quality, yet lens is compact and light weight. Really an amazing value, IMO.

Have anyone tested the 50mm? Any footage?
Does the 50mm have 77mm threads too? Is it possible to get the 50mm In EF-mount? Is there an estimate on when there will be a 85mm available?

I've tested the 50mm - it is really quite sweet.

I haven't had a chance to post the footage yet but I'm hoping to soon. Would love to see the 85mm prime - then the 18-35, the 50 and the 85 would make a pretty good basic set.

Best,

Dan

Tom, please rehouse the new Sigma 120-300 f/2.8 lens!

80-200

80-200

just ordered the allstar 80-200 from Tom.
Looking forward to receiving the lens!

Hi, can I ask, does anyone who has bought this lens have any issue with the aperture ring? Mine is kinda lose and wiggles a bit.

Would be good to know what other people's are like

Hi Chad, I just want to say that the lens IS very well made and I really do like it. I think it could just be an issue with my lens. Personally I think that the rear ring isn't attached properly. I'd just like to know if anyone else is having this problem.

How is the 100mm Macro lenes going? Really keen to buy that!

Both of 50 and 80-200 are available: http://allstar-cine.myweb.hinet.net/html/red_accessories/A_mount_system_lens.htm

I have say again, my 80-200mm lens is rehousing lens, but 50mm is not same level as rehousing lenses, it is completely rebuild lens.
I think, the basic need for video lens is to have accurate focus equipment, not PL mount.
Most still camera lens cannot provide this function, even it is a manual lens.
So I rebuild all parts, making the focus turning angle to be over 300 degree.
This is a very complicate working, also the prime cost is much higher than rehousing lens.

Dan will know what's the difference when he receive the lens.
I am a cinemagrapher not a business man. I won't build a set of Canon or Nikon rehousing lens to make money, I do what I think is valuable. I want to make something really workable for shooting. Still camera lens isn't like cinema lens, they still won't be match on same brand lens. And it needs to consider about other effectors, like resolusion, focu breathing... so I'd rather use mix lenses than same brand lenses, so that I can choose good ones.
I am now making 100 micro and 135mm T1.9, they are also made by complicate building.

Because making this takes many time and effort, so I decided to stop producing accessories. Therefore I will start sale support and shoulder products.

Price?

Also, will it have a loose/wiggly iris like my 18-35, or will it be more "thick" like the focus and zoom ring? That's my only complete about the 18-35.
