  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Allstar A-mount system is available! --with REDONE approved!

David nice set. What is the short and longest focal length in that photo?

The last thing you want is a renter mucking with changing out adapters.

In this case, you're absolutely right.

Purchase suggestion

Hi everyone*
I think I should explain more about the function of my A-mount system, and my suggestion for purchase.
A-mount is a kind of lens mount that I invented by myself. There is no lens use this system now.*But with adapters, it can be put together with many kinds of lenses. And the adapters improve yhe way to connect the lenses and also the lenses can change the direction. So my suggestion is, putting adapters on your lenses that you use very offten can make your work more efficiently. If you dont have enough budge, you can just buy 1-2 adapters for switch. If you use PL or BNCR lenses, you only need one adapter.
I have a bad news and one good news. The bad one is, the first 10 units are sold, which means no more 100 use discount. And the good news is, I will make SONY α adapter. Please give me time. Thank you !!!! **

hi allstar
i am Nawaf from kuwait
i have both red lens and nikon lens
i need to switch between them in very short time

so what is the procedure to buy your mount?

Best Regards

Please make Nikon G lens iris control and Leica R B-mounts first.

Thanks,

I AGREE here as well....Next solution is IRIS control on G lenses please, then you have my attention and business.

and very nice work BTW

With the system, you can change your lenses quickly and safely, without adjusting the back focus length.

Hello ALLSTAR. very interesting and clever lens mount option for the red one !

Was wondering if there is any way you can adjust the back focus when using this mount (except by using shims in the lenses) ?

Thanks

Mikael

Allstar,

This looks very interesting, but the video is a little confusing. There are three things in the video?

A-mount - this is the part that mounts on the camera

F-adapter - this is installed on the Nikon lens and allows me to mount Nikon lens to the A-mount

PL-adapter - this is connected to the A-mount and allows me to use standard PL mount lenses

Is that all correct?

Do all the adapters have proper FFD so I don't have to change FFD as I go from Nikon to PL lens?

How soon will you have the BNCR adapter ready. If FFD stays correct for PL, BNCR, and Nikon, I want this!

Hi Nawaf, please hop over to the Real Name thread to get your username sorted.

Allstar is (understandably) quite busy these days, so I'll try an answer.

When you have the A-mount installed on your RED, you'd need one PL-mount adapter, which would allow you to use the RED lenses, and then you need (at least) one Nikon adaptor to use the Nikon lenses. For speediest swap, you'd need one adaptor for each lens.

See I was thinking that 3 Nikon adaptors might be enough to start out with. That way you can have two on lenses you use the most and then just swap the third around onto whatever lens you need.

Allstar,

Is it possible to make a Nikon (f mount) adapter more like you PL adapter so I just have to buy one and just mount Nikon lenses like normal? I know this won't be as nice as your current F-mount adapter and won't be positive lock, but it would be a good alternative for people who just need to quickly put on a Nikon lens every now and then.

I don't think that the ALLSTAR mount alters the depth adjustment system of the RED One mount. So a collimating device such as the NULL Lens with one of ALLSTAR's PL mount adapters on it should prove accurate. Also, by using the NULL one could compare the various PL adapters to see if there are any variations and then shim the lenses appropriately. Nice match. With the Nikon version of the NULL (coming soon) you could do the same for Nikon lenses. Then all your lenses would definitely be dead on when swapping between them in the field.

wow EF mounts too?!?!!??!?
How are you going to control iris???

FANTASTIC NEWS!
