Those with AB batterys should know there is a relatively inexpensive adapter from V mount to AB. assuming the V mount on red is standard at the top where this adapter folds over and screws down, We should be able to adapt our existing batterys.

yes.. we have tested it and it does indeed work.

Awesome, Jim.

Thanks Jim, I appreciate the allowance.
Will all the accessories listed be available at NAB for view and touch?

Most of them will be...

Most importantly, will I be able to hold an operational Red with both an EVF and LCD at NAB? Because my dad and I (who have joint custody of #27) are debating about what to get first, and since we'll be at NAB, it'd be awesome to try them both out.

This prices are more then okay. I think, the discussion about the prices shows, that we have two kind of future users: The one who worked in the last years with low budget equipment and the one who worked (and still work) with high priced equipment. For the first group prices will be on or over the edge of there financial possibilities for the second group it's the paradise (if the camera really work in the daily business). It is not only the camera who could be luxury for several REDusers, the workflow needs also the best equipment you can get on the market (8core mac pro will be out soon, new 4K onboard cards, new software and so on). The RED team does a great job and there target must be to construct a camera that works with great gadgets and not one that is just low priced.

This also has a borrowed name:
media convergence.

Sorry, I posted earlier without seeing. Wait a sec here, back in 06 Stuart said on DVInfo.net that for $17,500 we get Red, LCD and Battery. Now that package is going to cost $17,900. I mean, it's all still good, but how do things go up and everyone says "thanks"?
you're completely right..

RED ONE CAMERA BODY$17,500

RED LCD Screen (5.6 inch) $1,700
RED BRICK 140Wh Battery Pack $450

The LCD and battery are $2150.00
With the allowance of $2500, you are actually
netting - $350.00

I presume people would assume that "including battery" also meant including a charger, as the battery's not much use without one!

In which case you'd be $400 down on the "previous price", but even if you see it as a $400 price increase, that's nothing in these terms (even without considering the cost relative to competing cameras), and people with AB bricks and those who don't want the LCD screen (I'm neither, unfortunately!) will be dead chuffed...

btw, red team, what does it mean this:

RED 1.8" SATA Flash ON CAMERA Module $500
Includes:
Camera Read / Write Module for SATA 1.8" flash media
(Media is not included)

RED 1.8" SATA Flash 32GB Media approx $1,500
Includes:
Camera Read / Write Module for SATA 1.8" flash media
(Media is not included)

1) ..duplicated text?..

2) "..32GB Media.." and after it says that "Media is not included" ?

Indeed Rob, that's very much the icing on the cake... I simply didn't mention that as it's got it's own thread...

5.6 inches. It's listed directly next to the LCD's price.
thanks Brook, the redteam must have made an update on the site because it was not there before (i refreshed the price list page and the spec came up)
2) "..32GB Media.." and after it says that "Media is not included" ?
Filmakers Gang, you should try and refresh the page cause the redteam corrected that mistake and took it off...

BTW, no one answered me in the question about the adjustable arm... if i get both the EVF and the LCD, do i get $175 taken off if i only want one adjustable arm? just trying go get my budget correct here... :-)
thanks

To the entire RED team.
THANK YOU!

I have been bridging that gap between amateur and professional (full-time freelance for the last 15 months now.) The RED One will be my first camera since I bought a JVC GY-DV500 in 2001. I had not been able to afford a $120K Varicam/CineAlta package and avoided all the pro-sumer compromises in the hope that something would come along that would answer my needs at my budget.

Enter the RED One.

Anyone who complains about the pricing and most generous allowance simply has no perspective. Go ahead and just try to find a comparable camera from JVC/Sony/Panasonic (like that's even possible.) Then, add glass, rods, matte box, follow focus, LCD screen... When you've entered six digits, perhaps you will have a clue how amazing an accomplishment the RED One truly is.

All my best.

Michael

Really simple, some folks just thought/hoped that the fully equipped red camera would be a couple thousand cheaper. It happens they don't have to say that they are happy about paying more they just didn't expect or maybe plan to pay more. Everyone I talked to about the RED camera I said for about 20k you can get a 4K cam, but it is more like 25k. Obviously way better than Varicam or f900 pricing, but a lot of the people who put down their $1,000 would have never bought a varicam anyway. So it isn't priced like a HVX200 but it isn't priced like a F900 either. :) So now they just need some RED financing.

thanks

Jim answered this indirectly in another thread:

"What is missing from this prelim. price list is all the pieces are also sold individually. So you can buy a basic set and the 15mm adaptor separately. I promise to keep that particular part as cheap as possible."

WOW! I just got back from my annual vacation and I see all the accessories priced and this $2,500 allowance to boot. HUGE THANKS JIM!!!! With my total Red budget allocation now reduced by the 2,500 allowance you just paid for my vacation!

1) What's the expected delivery month for this camera?

2) Are the specs the same and locked for reserve holders?
