now to see the accessories price list, and i'll be finally able to dive into sweet dreams about all that awesome footage that will come out of my red in few months

also.. great news! Thank you Jim!!

Fantastic news!!! I'm deeply thankful for this expression of gratitude on your part. Every day I spend on this board I feel more and more certain that not only was it a very good financial idea to believe in RED and reserve early, but that we're all part of an industry-altering event. I'm sure that a few years down the road, the timeline of digital cinema will be measured as "before RED" and "after RED".

Thank you for this, RED team.

Price of $17,500 is RED ONE and does not include LCD or power options. The $2500 is designed to cover some of these expenses, but we did not want to assume what each reservation holder wanted in their package.

Prices are now up on www.red.com

The original camera design included an LCD. Once that was moved off camera, the specs changed.

We thought - do we give reservation holders the off-board LCD? What if they really wanted the EVF? What if they want neither?

So we decided to give out an allowance, so you can choose your reservation bonus. We thought that was fairest, and gave reservation holders the most choice.

To clarify, the reservation gets you the camera only + the allowance which can go towards any accessories you want. Hope this makes sense.

Sorry, I posted earlier without seeing. Wait a sec here, back in 06 Stuart said on DVInfo.net that for $17,500 we get Red, LCD and Battery. Now that package is going to cost $17,900. I mean, it's all still good, but how do things go up and everyone says "thanks"?

Shawn, the original design camera had an on-board LCD, the current does not. The original camera design had an internal battery, the current has it on the rails. Specs change, and I think for the better. Hope that helps explains what's going on.

LCD+Battery is $2150, whereas bonus is $2500 and more flexible. I think that's good.

this is called great marketing;)

Thanks Jim. It's very generous. But I think I'm just going to spend all the money I saved on more Red accessories anyway.
