"Alleged" SCAM ARTIST LIST - Add yours here.

Mark Parker

Buyers beware, offering Leica Summicron-C lenses for low price and didn’t want to take any of the steps to provide legitimacy of the sale. Once I explained I was very interested and needed further verification, after discussing extensively, he says the lenses were taken off the market due to a local buyer.

Do your due diligence. Just stating my experience. I believe the deal on his lenses (if you could even say they are his) is “too good to be true.”

am not sure this is the right place to put this, but couldn't figure where else it may go. So with that said.....

I am not sure but I think there may be a problem with a members account here. I am wanting to buy this guys lenses but he takes time to reply and then when he does gives a vague message of send Paypal payment to an email address he nominates.

I did in fact try this, but Paypal blocked the transaction. I thought it might be my bank that my paypal account is linked too but its not them. I logged a case with Paypal and they say they did in fact block the transaction because it did not pass security checks but that other transactions i did are fine.

So I send a message relaying all this Paypal stuff/issues and he has gone silent - no further responses.

Something is not sounding right with this transaction.

Could it be that this persons account has been hijacked and this person is unaware of it...maybe ? If that is the case, its no use sending a message to him as the hijacker will get it...right?

So I hope by posting here I can get the attention of the real person. Before I go ahead and post the persons name here, is there any other way I should be going about it because I do not want to bring this persons name into disrepute in anyway. He may get really upset if I have this all wrong and i mention his name here.

I want to buy these lenses but I also want to be safe.

Thoughts on how to proceed ?

I am really sorry to read all the horror stories of people getting robbed. We all work really hard to earn our money and to have thousands of bucks ripped off can literally be life and career crippling.

This is why have a question, and it is not meant to be snarky or insulting - and I ask it only to see what methods might be implemented to keep this from happening to me . . . so is there a reason that folks do not use places like Escrow.com or others?
For me the 1% up-charge seems worth the price, but I also know that there are other things that come with it that might keep me from using any of them.

Thanks in advance,

JM

hey guys,

recently dealt with a scammer. After I posted a WTB post for a small hd 1703 a reduser member named Graham Morgan sent me an message that said -

"Hi, Email Bob on jjkens919@gmail.com regarding your request. I am sure he can help. Tuscaloosa Alabama."

I did email that address and the person who responded tried to sell me a 1703 but seemed to know nothing about it. I googled that email address and I found people reporting him on various car and gun selling forums as a scammer. Beware.

"Graham Morgan" recently PM'd me about a WTB request as well. Very similar request to email someone else

What's up guys - new user here but no stranger to the online film forums world. Just putting up a red flag for dealing with CLAY HASKELL aka C.H HASKELL. He seems to be well respected on here but my god what a pain in the ass to deal with. Long story short about 6 weeks ago I sent him payment for a tripod he was selling on here, and since then have been dealing with 6 weeks of excuses of why the tripod hasn't shipped, if the tripod is actually functional and a variety of other BS. Eventually he determined that the tripod 'needed servicing', and since I didn't have time to dick around for weeks on end dealing with this guy, I asked for a refund.
He clearly already spent the money I sent as Paypal rejected the refund he tried to send. Then he mentioned he'd have to send the refund in three separate payments. It took a couple of weeks to get the first two but I haven't received the last $1,000.

Anyways this guy is a huge goof, if he's a scammer he's not a very bright one. Overall I'd recommend steering clear of whatever he has for sale as he will likely just pocket the money and make endless excuses about the item, refunds, etc. etc. It kind of sucks that this has to be my first post but hopefully someone can learn from it and be sure to not buy anything from this mope.

Update: finally got my $1,000 back after endless pestering and threatening to spam his networks with bad reviews. All’s well that ends well but still would not recommend dealing with this guy in any capacity.

We were scammed by a fellow named Tyquan Robert Foster that lives in Riverdale GA. The FBI is aware of his location and is investigating him. He hacked into Ken Corben's account and used his name to sell on the Red forum. Since he took our money and never mailed the camera, he committed a federal offense and will be facing federal charges.

Even though we believed he was a real person in LA, beware of anyone in Georgia selling a Red Epic-w.

I received an email a few days ago from kshitij.camera@gmail.com requesting more pictures of a filter kit I'm selling here on reduser. Did a quick search on the site and found his name on the scam list. Email is a gmail address, so I believe he is using someone else's name. Site looks sort of real http://www.kshitijcamera.com
In any case, beware.

John Leahy: Potential scammer

John Leahy: Potential scammer

Hi all, just a note that I was in comms with John Leahy on his post for the scarlet-W.

Sounded very legit but when in email communication he would only accept bank transfer wouldn't accept any paypal/esgrow talk and when I asked for a photo of his ID and some references he never replied.

Can't say for certain at all, but it did raise some red flags for me. If anyone knows he is a trusted seller then please note it here and I will review this, or also if you have had a similar experience let me know.

I was also in contact with John Leahy over email and made an offer, which he accepted. I then said I’m ready to pay immediately after my standard safety checks: only sending money through PayPal or escrow.com, connecting on real-name social media and a FaceTime or Skype call. In my opinion anyone sending you a camera worth the price of a car would want to do this for their protection as well, but instead he stopped responding to me after the email laying out those safety measures and bumped his post. After he ignored two of my follow up emails, I even responded to his bump post letting him know I’d emailed, and that was ignored as well.

Not making a solid accusation against John, but that is shady as it gets and reflects your experience, Katie.

Anyone contacting him tread carefully.

Hello everybody. My name is Matt Knorr. I was recently made the moderator of the "RED Camera" group on facebook after trying to help out with a possible scam that went down. This morning I was advised by Tim Daust that this is the primary community for all things RED related.

So, I want to make it known that and individual going by the name Robert Espiritu is taking electronic payments, and not delivering anything in return. So far there has been at least 4 instances, totalling over $12k. The company he owns is Nocturne Films, and there have been other profiles with tgis same name as a business. So both his name and company, should be seen as red flags.

Tim pointed out, it could be somebody pretending to be Robert. We arent sure at this time. But we do know Robert is a real individual, as there were 2 people in the group who have actually worked with him. Though, they did had a negative opinion of his character. They are all from California, and Robert is based is San Diego.

I just wanted to put everybody on alert.

He's been banned from RU now, but look out for Bruno Vanherck. From my Facebook group post also warning about him: "SCAM (allegedly) according to Jérémi Stadler this guy BRUNO VANHERCK scammed him. Wanted to follow up that he is selling a Gemini package on RU and did respond to my inquiring email. Note he mentions a partner, which is almost ALWAYS a red flag. I got scammed (PayPal goods and services to the rescue!) a few years ago and that guy did the partner thing and also mentioned “another potential buyer”. I didn’t go beyond the email with him." See attached pics for his post and e-mail correspondence with me.

I'd like to respond to this thread as Matthew Knorr a person I have never dealt with or had any affiliation to at all has called me out as a scammer. I have worked directly with my buyers to try to remedy the situation, I have refunded/worked something out with them to get them back their money or the item they did pay for. It was a technical error on my half and I was only looking to fix it. Please understand that Matthew Knorr has been spreading a false figure of the amount of money I have received and has absolutely zero affiliation with any of the people I did deal with.

If an admin or anyone of power needs context or the people I dealt with to get a response from i'd be more than happy to give names and proof of our transactions/my offers for remedy.

Look man, I already have worked things out with Brad and you are completely lying about that. I offered you to ship the monitor that you paid for because I Will not entertain refunding you, I asked you to confirm your address so I can get it out to you and you haven't done that. I am not refunding you, but you are getting the monitor as long as you can give me an address to ship it to. As attached in my comment I have messaged you in regards to that but you have chosen to completely lie about the situation, I am taking care of spencer as soon as he is in the states.
