  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

"Alleged" SCAM ARTIST LIST - Add yours here.

Watch out for a user called Alex Konney.

I was suspicious of buying a base expander from him as he contacted me directly. I couldn't find anything out about him on RU, online or by searching the production company his email was registered to (it doesn't exist). I right-clicked and 'google searched' his user image on gmail and it returned a hit for a different, real DP.

I challenged him on this and he stopped all communication with me.
 
Maybe I missed this in the first page of comments and I know this is hard to track, but has anyone made a breakdown of these interactions? Shared Google spreadsheet etc to help aid future users? I always suggest the use of google's site search function just to make sure other happy buyers exist for that seller or some sort of communication. Every little bit helps.
 
Watch out for a guy named MEDORO LETTIERE (Fake online name) E-mail adress is : medlett@hotmail.com
He claims to have an Scarlet MX package for sale Online in Ireland but is a SCAM. He have a fake web created with this purpose http://www.inpost24.eu/
and ask you to send the money there.

Just letting everyone know there is someone called Ethan Smith who contacted me trying to sell a ARRI 416 kit. It is a scam. The item list was an exact copy and paste of another person's listing on this site. They were insistent on paying by bank transfer instead of PayPal or Kitmondo... websites and instagram are newly created and his passport did not pass a document check.

Someone posing as Lonnie Peralta (fairly well known in the industry) from FXFProductions.com contacted me regarding a WTB add I had. Never pay by Paypal send money via Friends and Family or if you do, only fund it via a credit card like I did! (PHEW).

They paypal account they were using was: jordansimsasc@gmail.com

Somebody that would like to buy what I sell on Reduser, claim to be a steadicam operator.
On his email, the signature says "key assistant location manager".

Is it possible a steadicam operator also does a location manager?

Please advise

Scam attempted by Tyler McKelvy on Ebay. Included spoofed email address "support@ee-paypal.com" confirmed phishing by email.

I was contacted by someone with a reduser account under the name of Jeffrey Romano, citing E Prime Productions as their company. They wanted to sell me a 7" monitor but their company can't be verified independently and the name seems to be made up (after a thorough internet search). The voicemail for the E Prime Productions website number is unprofessional and sketchy and says "Ethan". Another Reduser has posted about selling a Red Arm to an Ethan of E Prime Productions and never receiving payment.
 
I was contacted by Jeffrey Romano as well, while I was looking for a 7" Touch and some Mini Mags. Unfortunately I became a victim of this scam artist! Don't buy from these guys! I involved the police today and they filed for a theft suite against Jeffrey Romano and his partner in crime Antonio Hodge. The email he was sending this from is: tonypnhodge@gmail.com

I contacted REDUSER today as well and this account was just banned. If this email pops up anywhere:

Jeffrey Romano tried to get me to send him money via wire transfer. I declined because DUH. I offered him a much lower number for a base expander, and he said "sure" - and I knew something was up. SURE ENOUGH. I just tried to message him again and it wouldn't send. He was blocked.

GUYS DON'T send your hard earned money to anyone that doesn't have a way to prove ahead of time they are a real person and have a track record. I always ask for ebay account, FB, Insta. Paypal etc.

I'll back up Andre Mills as a scammer. Same address, etc. He purchased my Red Scarlet on Ebay and "transferred" me money via the fake PayPal email address you listed. I sent the item out only to learn via PayPal that the transfer was never made. I have been unable to get my camera back. The mailing address is to a post office in Escondido, Ca. Andre Mills is well known by the staff there as they have received numerous calls and complaints about him doing such things, unfortunately, no one, including myself, has been able to get any legal action taken.

His Ebay name changes as he hacks valid accounts and uses them just the once. The one he used on me was a guy in Denmark. I verified him and contacted him via social media. He had no idea and has since been shut out of his account due to the hack.
 
I'm adding Michael Snyman to this. He approach me with a V-Mount I/O module for sale. I had him invoice me. The invoice came from Dany Ordonez. I inquired why the name didn't match his and asked for additional verification for who he says he is. I, in turn, gave him my credentials (personal website, Vimeo, etc.) as I am new as well. He didn't reply until this morning. He gave me his "website" which is http://www.eprimeproductions.com. He says he's from San Antonio, but Google has website subcopy cached both in North Dakota and Nashville.
I called him on why his website even has a map that puts his location in North Dakota. He claims to do rental in North Dakota and Texas. I paid his invoice and then when he went to print my shipping label there was a "glitch" and it supposedly refunded my money. He then wanted me to pay via Goods and Services. Too many red flags. I Googled his rental house "website" to find it is nearly identical to http://www.ontariofilmrentals.com. All the website copy and photos are verbatim.
Whois shows it's relatively new.

I could be wrong about this person, they seem to truly know this side of the business but I'm offering my take on this. Mods, if this post is out of line or I seem too paranoid, please delete.
 
I second Michael Snyman. He contacted me with a dsmc2 v-lock module. When I offered to pay with paypal he said only friends and family because he had some pending echecks and that, for some reason, goods and services would cause a huge hassle. I called him out on it and even offered to use a different escrow service but he went silent. Could be nothing but this experience mixed with his other sketchy behavior mentioned before makes me not want to deal with him.
 
I pay this guy Michael Snyman 3 days before via Pay Pal for a mini mag 480Gb.Until now no response.Now is banned from Reduser,and i can not replay to him.

I contact Pay Pal and inform them about this.
