  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

All the bad news...

Of course we have 98% of the parts ready and waiting... and a production line set up ready to roll. This is pretty frustrating to us as you might imagine.

If you think you are disappointed about delays... just think about how we might feel.

Jim

Are there still parts that can be compiled and built/prepped while you wait for those additional parts so that once the missing components come in production can ramp up faster, or does that just not make sense logistically?

I can't even begin to imagine being on the other end of this. Everyone's hard work over there certainly does not go unnoticed. At least Epic's are out in the wild and achieving great success in the meantime ;)

Just remember, Jim, these are only delays because you let us know they are delays. You never had to be transparent with us. I'm sure I'm speaking for many people on this forum when I say we truly appreciate how you consistently sacrifice your blood pressure to keep us up to date on Red's status. You're a good man, Jim.

i'd be frustrated too if all the big hollywood director's were wanting to use the camera (and subsequent industry movement) i'd developed from the ground up. ;)

there's some really amazing things in progress, shaping our future.

all good things in time...

Cruising the floor of Cinegear with Ted, tonight, I saw a large number of RED Ones being displayed proudly by multiple booths.

It's an interesting thought that the RED One has yet to be trumped when you factor together Resolution/DR/framerates/affordability. This cam from a "startup company". It's interesting how 3 years later, the first camera to out-do the RED One is from the same company who chooses to further push their limits.

When I say "THEIR" limits (in reference to RED), it's nice to know that they want to go beyond just "THE" limits...

Well that's good to know. We need you healthy. But that only reinforces how much passion you have for your company. Seriously, what CEO of any other company would be this communicative with their clients. This is profound.
145/95 right now... just took it.

Jim

Dear Jim,
Woke up suddenly this morning with a feeling of anxiety, you know what I mean...
and here you are posting those rather bad news, but my anxiety has gone because I now know where you stand, where we all stand.

I needed comfort and I thank you very much… dear Jim.

OPEN.
In Andre Agassi's autobiography there's a story about Jim Jannard sending a nice car as a thank you for wearing Oakleys. I think that RED benefits far more from being open and generous, than companies that are secretive. Open for improvement= open for business. At the end of the day we do pick our tools based on some kind of business logic. But personally I really, really appreciate a company that listens, has attitude and picks a fight. Just please stay healthy and enjoy it. I have been looking forward to Scarlet 8x for too long. But I have other cameras, and they work.

well, it is a low high though... :) so that's good.

in all seriousness, i know it totally sucks to hear diet and exercise and stress reduction and yoga, or whatever else. it's not fun. but we do want you at the top of your game to see this revolution through to the end! can't even imagine the pressures, but it all comes down to perspective in the end. thanks again jim.

...and i know you don't want us talking about your health, but hey... we really do like you.

Personally just the idea that Scarlet will finally go into production before the end of this year pleases me greatly. It's come a long way since it was first talked about however long ago, and I have a feeling it's going to be well worth the wait. :)

My blood pressure is not the bad news... customers having to wait is. Sorry I posted that.

Jim

Cool so we have time to save money ;)
Thanks so much for your exemplary communication!
In RED we trust!

That sounds like clear news, and is better than i hoped :). No word about the epic-s, i presume, this would follow the epic-x within months?

Is it an idea that separate from the stage 2 and 3 options, people (non red owners) can sign up and deposit 10% for the epic-s, epic-x and/or scarlet so you guys know what the initial demand is for these camera's, so you have an indication of how much of those 98% parts are needed to meet the demand and production can roll out smoothly once it starts.

ah, most of us have realized it's worth the wait and learned a great deal of valuable patience. i know i have... and i needed that!

course that doesn't mean i don't want it tomorrow... ;)
