  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Adobe CS6...

Andy,

Thanks for the link to Adobe's Creative Cloud. I didn't see Audition or what I recognize as an audio application. I think the $49.99 per month ($600/yr) is for one seat at the table. The annual 1/2 step upgrade is $400/yr with two seats at the table. I am talking Production Premium. Creative Cloud did appear to be the Master Collection though which has the design and web apps.

Audition is in there. And so is Lightroom which traditionally hasn't been part of a CS collection. I like using all the apps since I'm a designer and web guy too. In fact, the video apps are what I'm new at.

As for seats at the table, I think the traditional non-subscription EULA allows for two installs but I don't think that is officially two users... typically a laptop/desktop allowance for a single user. It will be interesting to see if they allow the same flexibility for CreativeCloud (CC). With CC, they probably have a good way of knowing whether a license is being used simultaneously by two users through pings to the mother ship. :conehead::conehead:

I read up on the Adobe Cloud again and I didn't see Audition or mention of any color grading apps.

The Creative Cloud is EVERY APP that is available in ANY Creative Suite.... Essentially the Master Collection plus the mobile apps plus some services plus LightRoom.

The inclusion of SpeedGrade is only a wish/assumption. It would make sense for it to be included with the Production Premium Suite... but no one knows yet.

But IF IF IF SpeedGrade (or whatever they decide to call it) is part of the Production Premium Suite, then it will be part of the Creative Cloud.

That is my understanding. Hopefully NAB will reveal new/more details.

The Creative Cloud page claims: "Everything you need, everywhere you work"
It also says: "Membership also gives you access to the Mac OS and Windows® versions of the CS applications for complete freedom to create on both platforms"

IMHO that means working on several platforms, either it is desktop or laptop, Mac or PC... Instead of being license based softwares, it is going to be user logged based... (then I really wonder what happens when you work in some non Internet connected places; like you're on location in the middle of the woods, and you need your DIT tools, and even some quick cuts on Premiere, quick split-screen in AE,...).

Anyway, that would make no sense if you pay for something in the cloud, but if you're locked to one specific computer.

As a guy working back and forth in the US and Europe, I must say I'm really interested by this offer. You cannot really travel with your Mac Pro tower :)

Jason, your insights are MUCH appreciated. Thank you!! Gotta love this place, and the folks that make it happen. Th:)mmes

He he, I already knew this since I give the Workshop in Brazil, and for this I told every one there that the R3D files from RED cameras could not be open also in ADOBE bypassing RXC-Pro, but I have now grown to love RCX-Pro, that I will till continue to use it... A lot... ;)

When are you coming over here?

What about Adobe Bridge? Can it recognize the new r3d formats? In Premiere it works great! Clipfinder has always been my browser to check stuff out on the fly (without the large overhead of used resources).

Has anyone noticed that you can open R3D files native in the new Photoshop? DSMC...

I just saw that if you're eligible for upgrade (i.e. a CS3+ customer), Creative Cloud is only $29.99 a month. Unless I'm mistaken, that's $30 a month to have access to every Adobe CS6 product. Hell yeah! I pre-ordered, and the website says it's available beginning May 11, just two days.

Do you have to be hooked up to the web to use the cloud? Or can you download Pemier and edit without internet?

Do you download the full version of say Premier, or do you access it on the web or something? Furthermore, when using the cloud programs are you running off your native machine or off theirs?

What's the student discount on Production Premium?

That's completely brilliant - but then who would pay the $2500 for the full creative suite? And why?

wow, native playback on Premiere Pro CS6 is just amazing...

It's incredible, isn't it? I was playing with it last night and it might as well have been standard def footage playing back in Premiere. That's how fast it was. I have no Red Rocket, but I do have an Intel Core i7 3930k overclocked to 4.5GHz, 32GB of RAM and three GTX 580s in my PC. Does anyone know if CS6 benefits from SLI configurations? It sure as hell feels like it does when I compare the performance that this same computer had with R3Ds in CS5.5 and CS6.

Has anyone figured out how to use the touch app's with creative cloud (i.e. is really nice for story board sketches on your pad, which then get moved to your pc when you connect ... i think creative cloud gives us six apps that integrate really nice with ipad/android).

The problem I'm having is I can't see how to download the creative cloud versions into my android without paying (i.e. i can pay through the store, but i think i should be getting these app's within my creative cloud subscription). hmmmm?

I have an overclocked i7 950 with 12gb of ram and a gtx 460 and I get flawless playback and editing response with cs5.5

My renders are really fast and MPE works great with my slightly old video card even if I had to hack it in. I even get playback with 4k footage with numerous filters, etc.

I know SLI wasn't supported with CS5.5, and that it also only used 100 cuda cores, greatly limiting increases in the better video cards. This is TOTALLY CONJECTURE, but I read that cs 6 will support multiple GPUS in one of NVidias new architecture formats, but that it doesn't yet.

It would be awesome if more cuda cores and multiple GPUs could be fully utilized in Premiere. Maybe soon? Though I imagine other things will become bottlenecks.
