  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

A very interesting theory about future of RED, Jim, Ted and Cioni...

Last gasps for air from a film die hard. I have respect for film, but it's a technology of the past, not of the future.

I bet the last of the dinosaurs were angry too :)

I did not get what the point was? Jim takes a role less in the spotlight, and cilonili are using different cameras or atleast do post on them. I was hoping to read some intetesting theory.

And as far as if film is dying or dead. The sooner the better until they come up with enviromental and grainfree version.

This does sound like a film lover,s last shout out, but this conspiracy theory is not the first time I hear it unfortunately. Lots of speculation over here too in Asia (Hong Kong). Maybe red beyond reduser should put up some sort of statement clearing this out. For me what I follow here suffices, I've been a reduser for many years. But for the outside world, specially countries where English is not the main language, there are many ways to destabilize consumer/clients perceptions. Maybe take advantage of Reducation to make a statement over here?

Sorry, but this article had nothing about RED's future in it and wasn't even interesting. He's just trying to make you think there is something going on with RED, something bad. But we know better, don't we? ;)

+1 on Ketch's post, i have no doubt you're right. Looking forward to see your short and to play with a Dragon one day.

All I have to say at this point before next weekend when hopefully I'll start a new Dragon Thread with Frame Grabs form the short... Is that NEVER have I seen such an insane CLEAN and Beautifully rendered Skin tones right off the camera...

Why not admit that it is a question of taste?
I'm doing photography, digital and film. Digital wins for ease of use, convenience, and workflow. But I always find medium format and large format films results a lot sexier.
I see a lot of guys on all the forums using microscopes and charts and stuffs all day long to obtain the sharpest image. I personally hate super sharp images. But I respect their tastes.
It's not a war.

While I agree with you in STILL photography, I firmly disagree in Motion Picture.

To me has never been about the sharpest image, yet sharpness has a huge role in it, but a total of all things that must work together to allow me to capture the absolute best images possible, and DRAGON has just brought hat perfect solution.

But enough talk of me about Dragon.... I'll have my fingers smoking typing the new upcoming thread of my impressions and Frame grabs to accompany, with possible R3D's.

And this short will not even be close to showcase my best images on Dragon, as it was not the key element of importance in the project.

I like to stir up the ants, the bees and the wasps with the best. I mean why would a SI2K diehard hang around reduser otherwise? I also like film, have a CP16R and would like to be able to afford to shoot film on a casual or ongoing learning basis - truly. However I can't let this topic travel by without a concessional in the favour of RED imaging. It might go something like this - "There are people with too much time on their hands with a want to create mischief, when they should be creating movies."
