  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

A taste...

Some of you guys are gonna feel pretty silly come the 13th :)

heh heh heh.

I can picture the camera in my mind, but I suck at 3D rendering, so it will have to remain inside my mind. Unfortunately, only I will know if I was right or not. I can say this much. What I'm picturing is a camera that can easily function as a still camera or video camera with the latter having some modularity that can turn it into a more typical video camera rig, so that most will feel at home using it the way they normally would use a video camera. Jim owns over 1000 still cameras I believe. He probably knows a thing or two about the ergonomics of a still camera. Combine that with all of the experience they have gained in designing the Red One and I think they now have a good sense of what they want to do in terms of a motion picture camera as well. I believe high megapixel still mode and 4k HD mode (3840x2160) video mode. Red One would still be a higher quality camera, and of course Epic will be the king of the mountain.

That's no camera...

That's no camera...

Sorry everyone, this is just a render of the new Skate Park at the Vegas Ranch. Sweet Transitions!

looks like the bottom section of a steadicam sled.

Will RED make a stabilizer?

My take is that, the photo of the camera section Mr. Jim posted, is a modular piece which can be removed to remotely operate the camera. This, I think would make much more sense with the EPIC, but it could be used as a mini video village or remote screen for the director. The bottom of that plate might be where the screen and buttons are (perhaps from that previous render)...

Something to mull over in your heads!

I'd still like to know why there is a badge with the name 'Scarlet' on an optional (maybe?) accessory. It HAS to be part of the actual camera body, does it not? Is the badge there just to mess with us?

What's is odd about this picture is if you look directly above the "Red Digital..." lettering, there is that space which wraps around the corner towards the right. Is this made of two pieces? One would be the square plate, the other, the angled piece with the scarlet logo.

Also, if you look at the bottom flat part of the image, why is the back curved and front square??

hmmm, can't seem to figure out how to post an image. Ah, it's only my third post...

I have a feeling that it is a very small piece of the camera, it might be the back of a viewfinder.

Edit-

the more I look at it, the less likely that sounds.

I still think it is only a small part of the camera
