  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

A Message from Peter

Dont worry.. we wont :)

Epic just comes first ( it always has ) , and people just saw working prototypes, so that is why everyone is talking about it :)

Hah, that feels much better :) Keep up the good work, Red. I can't wait to be able to get my hands on a Scarlet!

Did anybody notice that knob sticking out the top of his camera? Looked like an extra plate/opening or something... maybe i'm crazy

Looks like a mount point for a monitor.

Peter Jackson seems like such a sweet guy. It's nice and fun to see him as passionate as us, even though he could probably afford all thr major cameras, RED will ever compete against.

What a great endorsement from a really cool guy. I love the way he pronounces "sensor" and how he affectionately cradles his camera in his arms.

Seems more like modesty...if he's a "non-technical person" how in the
world did he shoot all those battle scenes and creatures in Lord of the
Rings. For a very long time people thought those books were
pretty much impossible to do convincingly in live-action. He did it 3 times.

Heheh - yeah, and all at the same time!

It would be such an amazing life if one could be friends with one's heroes...

Chris

Glad to see this.

I thought the most interesting thing he said was that he (as a self-professed "non-technical person") was able to take the camera out early in the morning and grab shots for The Lovely Bones all on his own. In spite of how much as we discuss specs and technology on this forum, it seems like the real significance of RED is going to be the liberation of the natural instinctive artist.

Exactly! I experienced this firsthand over Spring Break when I shot footage at various locations by myself. It is very empowering.

I'm proud to have a Reduser (you) as my professor! Now lets get an Epic

That was really nice, personal video from Peter, he seems like a guy you could sit and have good chat with... I'd LOVE an Epic but I guess a Scarlet will just have to do for now :-P

Peter Jackson wants his Epic

Peter Jackson wants his Epic

Just thought I would share a special little clip our good friend Peter Jackson put together for us for NAB...

I enjoyed Pete's not so subtle comments about Jim being at N.A.B. and not cranking out the Epics fast enough.

No, this is a Weta!

Now, that's a bug. I think I saw that one in District 9.

What a testimonial! I particularly like when Peter says "that he is not too technical, he just likes the way the picture looks". That is pretty awesome.

Maybe he'll do a remake of Dead-Alive with his RED. :) One of my favorite Horror movie lines every "I kick ass for the Lord!" :)

Well as Peter's Camera Operator on Dead-Alive ( Braindead ), trust me .. his technical knowledge, was first rate and his hand holding style was pretty slick too ..

Awesome. Yeah, can I just thank you for being a part of such a fun movie. Me and my GF throw EPIC Halloween parties and this movie is ALWAYS on the list of what we play. People don't even believe it's a Peter Jackson film! :) It's one of the reasons I respect him so much. He knows how to make a fun film! :)
