Just thought I would share a special little clip our good friend Peter Jackson put together for us for NAB...

This was such a pleasure to see in 4k at Red Day. What a great treat! Thank you guys so much for everything you do!

Glad to see this.

I thought the most interesting thing he said was that he (as a self-professed "non-technical person") was able to take the camera out early in the morning and grab shots for The Lovely Bones all on his own. In spite of how much as we discuss specs and technology on this forum, it seems like the real significance of RED is going to be the liberation of the natural instinctive artist.

That was really nice. It was really nice to see Peter talking about the image from a non-technical perspective and the extra room in the blacks (we seem to mainly talk about highlight detail here) is absolutely fantastic.

Also I agree Ben, being a one man camera crew producing cinema quality images must be truly liberating for anyone.

Now if only I could get my hands on a Scarlet, I too have been teased enough.

Wicked! Slavering over thr idea of the Epic. He even licked his lips at the thought.

Seems more like modesty...if he's a "non-technical person" how in the
world did he shoot all those battle scenes and creatures in Lord of the
Rings. For a very long time people thought those books were
pretty much impossible to do convincingly in live-action. He did it 3 times.

Anyone who watched the special behind the scenes on the LotR knows that Peter Jackson is quite technical. Just not into small specific details (like most of us here are! :)). I think a large part of how and why he could shot LotR when no one else seemed to want to was because his sheer creativity at solving problems. Because there was constantly problems.
So yeah, part of it was his willingness to employ any trick in the book (and some outside!) to get the film done. Part of it was the amazing work of Weta Digital & Weta Workshop. The other parts was an amazing crew and a large enough budget to make New Zealand drop it's jaw. They had quite a lot of help and encouragement from there.

Anyhow, back on topic. Great to see Peter Jackson supporting RED and I love how he word drops 4K anytime he gets the chance

boy... he really lost some weight. good for him.

Maybe he'll do a remake of Dead-Alive with his RED. :) One of my favorite Horror movie lines every "I kick ass for the Lord!" :)

That was great to see! Thanks for putting it up. Writing The Hobbit... Yes!
