Now I love this sensor size. Wider than FF, but not too much so à lot of existing FF lens can fit.![]()

So does this mean some of our Canon EF primes will cover 8K? What about RED Lenses (we have zooms and primes there too)
Yes. The Weapon CF has more power under the hood than the magnesium. Is this CF only?
Yes. The Weapon CF has more power under the hood than the magnesium.
Just a very minor detail, but I like how the pixel size is once again exactly 5.0 micron. Makes for an easy calculation to get from 40.96 x 21.60 (mm) to 8192 x 4320 (pixels).
Naturally, the question to follow would be, is this just a bigger slice of optimized Dragon silicon? Or is it new tech?
So is the 8k sensor upgrade 20k with a 10k deposit now or is it only 10k all in during NAB?
Will there be a magnesium to carbon 8k upgrade one day?
This sensor will need to fed by a lens that has 46.4mm image circle..
a schneider Xenon FF lens has a 43.3 mm image circle.. for example..
a 3 mm vignette may occur in the corners,
it looks to be a new path to medium format cine lenses to emerge in the industry
But you'll have a 2:1 ratio. The 1.85 crop could do the trick.

... Great news for the ones with the big budget. Its the end of my Red owning road, I'm afraid.![]()
