  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New Scarlet Case

Innerspace seems to make a nice custom 1510 for the Scarlet as well. Also cheaper than the new Scarlet Companion Cube. Perhaps not ship-safe, but carry-on safe for sure.

I'll move the pre-cut foam that came in the Scarlet box into the 1510, just pick-n-pluck the foam in the 1510 to fit it.

I was looking at doing this. The only downside is the pre-cut foam would take up a little over 50% of the space in the 1510. But if you only wanted to carry your camera body, side handle, media, touch screen, and batteries there'd be enough room.

I did take the precut foam out of my SSD 4pack and made a space for it in there. Works great.

Arnold. I'm assuming you mean my camera...I've already gotten my camera, but unfortunately it's back at RED already. I've been talking to Jason alot about a potential trade of gear and to hear his ideas and what he's doing is awesome. Just figured I'd throw his in the ring.

That sucks, what happened to your camera?

I just picked up a new Pelican 1510 case from Amazon here for about $153. w/ free shipping. I'll move the pre-cut foam that came in the Scarlet box into the 1510, just pick-n-pluck the foam in the 1510 to fit it.

Might be the most affordable way to get Pelican quality and (some) pre-cut foam (then pick-n-pluck the rest to fit your accessories. (By the way, my rep showed me how you can also pluck the pre-cut foam from the box the Scarlet-X comes in to make space for the side handle. Fits perfectly.)

I bought a 1510 case for my scarlet a few months ago and had been wondering what to do for foam inserts ... and this sounds like the perfect solution. thanks for the idea!

That cinemaoxide case looks sweet... I'd seriously consider it if I hadn't just bought this from Amazon... but this is also an even more affordable option.
The RED cases do look awesome, but I want to carry accessories with my brain!

We too have a bunch of 1510s. Per Rich, Amazon is a great source. For those L.A. peeps, we also get our pelican cases from 'American Foam & Packaging CO' in Gardena. The 1510 with pick n pluck is $140.
For those who don't want the foam, opt for the DIVIDERS...it's a few bills more, but allows you to customize you case.

Have custom foam made. Cases Plus near Sacramento, CA does amazing work and it's very affordable.

Padded dividers are decent too.

A Pelican 1510 for all your accessories and that scarlet case for the camera wouldn't be a bad combination. I like everything in my 1510, but a little extra protection for the camera wouldn't be a bad thing.

Ben, this is exactly what I am thinking. You can fit the Scarlet with attached side SSD, DSMC side handle, REDMOTE and even the TOUCH LCD (with small modification of the lid) and SSD media or REDVOLTs (in the space behind the DSMC side handle) into this new SCARLET X case and then fit all the other accessories in the 1510 carry-on (my 16-35, 24-70 and 70-200 with the 2x extender take up half of the 1510 as it is). So the only thing that goes in the "belly of the beats" (plane) is the tripod...

If I order it now can they ship my Scarlet-X in it?

1610 ftw. Come on, you know you need more space than that tiny 1510....;)

Love the space of the 1610, but want to be able to carry on my scarlet package when I fly. Something about putting tens of thousands of dollars in the hands of baggage handlers doesn't feel quite right.

I do it all the time with my custom-foamed 1510, 1600 and 1610... but you're right... all it takes is once :)

Just picked up another 1510 with the padded dividers and I love 'em. Going on a short trip next weekend and I need a very compact kit cause I'll be carrying a bunch of paragliding gear with me and camping in the car, so this works out quite nicely! Those dividers are worth it, folks. Amazon FTW!

Received the Cinema Oxide custom case last night. Everything fits in there securely. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a case and in my opinion worth the extra expense.

Also, as far as their customer service, I had emailed Jason a few questions as to whether or not some specific accessories would fit in the extra space. Instead of responding to my email with a simple "yes" he took some photos with the accessories in the case and sent them in the email.
