Curious. You fellas think Red Raven will be ready to ship before NAB 2016 or after?

I can tell you one thing...when I am on a high end shoot..and months of pre-pro have gone into it...and you are 10 hours in and the budget clock has been ticking all day...
...you have your entire reputation sitting on those cards. I sure as hell don't mind paying a premium knowing they will deliver every time.
You could argue that "so do Cfast...compact flash....ect"...but those don't handle what RED it capable of.
You won't be able to shoot anything at a resolution higher than 4K, regardless of media data rates and internal processing horsepower, simply because it's a 4K sensor.
Dragon's pixel pitch is 0.005mm - multiply that by 4096 and you get 20.48mm which is the width of the sensor as confirmed by Jarred.
In that scenario you'd be right; but in that scenario, I'd expect there to be a rented Epic/F55/Alexa and a maybe a backup body on-hand for that level of shoot.
Performance-wise the CFast cards are actually faster than the lower capacity mini-mags. If mini-mags don't offer better reliability, I'm not sure why they're necessary.
Look, I'm not saying definitively that they are NOT necessary. I'm just saying that the customers buying this camera will ask this question when they see the price tag and I'm curious about Red's answer.
Hard to say as there isn't a ton of precedent.Curious. You fellas think Red Raven will be ready to ship before NAB 2016 or after?

My question was stupid, i already knew what you are saying, i was just trying to convince myself that this 1.87 crop factor can't be the final crop factor, that Red will offer us a more cinematic one, but i think i'm wrong..
Too bad, i think i'll stay with my Red one Mx..
Can't say for sure but i'm pretty sure it's always been PST.Lets hope Jarred considers midnight as EST.

Regarding criticism of RED's pricing strategy...
So, "why do memory cards cost $1,000?"
The price of failure is higher.

Depends how you interpret that - #4K4ALL working (as in full time job working) DP's & Cameramen. Or #4K4ALL hobbyist, weekend warrior, cameramen?
Different groups.
