  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Re-packaging the current epic dragon into a weapon body makes sense, too... :)

Sign me up for that, should be a really low cost solution to get people into the Weapon infrastructure. Don't know if the boards work, but I would be happy with just the Weapon body even if the boards and speed of the camera remain the same as my current Dragon.

So: No prores?

That would be nice, but then you need better boards and such. I'm quite happy with just R3D since computer tech gets better and soon we will be able to handle R3D just the same, so I don't think we will be needing ProRes in like a year from now based on pure processing power during post production.

What I like about the Weapon body however is the fan construction, the smaller and lighter body and better connectivity.

How does this theory relate to 4K4ALL?

Can we abandon this thread for a day to see if maybe they will release more information?

It doesn't, it was just a response to what he wrote. Technically it might work, but I wasn't even addressing Raven with that comment.

Everyone seem so focused on the idea of a low cost camera that they forget that #4K4ALL may also mean price drops for current Epic and Scarlet Dragons along with the release of a new entry level Weapon style body.

It looks like the front is a one piece. Either this is the old fixed lens camera or this is a micro four thirds camera that they also showed years ago updated into weapon form. Either way, it doesn't look like you can change mounts on it which means... something. :tongue_smilie:

I doubt a price drop just four, five months after they got people upgrading. Also, why would people get a Weapon 6K when they can have an Epic Dragon for a fraction of the price?

I think 4K4ALL could well turn out to mean anything ...There may be a logic to the hashtag that is very personal to Jared and 4K4ALL may not reflect specs or price.

Lol it worked!

yeah the lens mount looks pretty fixed, so I'm guessing no swappable OLPFs too?

I think this camera is going to be less modular but the price will reflect that.

Well, metal suggests it's not going to be lighter than Carbon, which kind of nulls the gimbal/drone-centric idea... Unless they saved tons of weight elsewhere (like not including all those really heavy prores chips)...

A 4K micro four thirds Dragon sensor in a metal Weapon body. That would probably reduce the price a fair amount for indie-shooters and make sense in their lineup, no?

It's very unlikely to be a M4/3 mount. The focal plane is too far back on the SSD module
