#4K4ALL

I think Raven will just be to Weapon what Scarlet was to Epic.
They can't keep upgrading these old cams forever. At some point they must be thinking that they can make new cams that do more for less than it costs to upgrade...

Personally I'm hoping for 4k @ 120fps ready to shoot for under $10k. S35, EF mount. Might be dreaming as 4k4all probably means a totally different thing to Red than it does to me. Fingers crossed.

I fail miserably when speculating, but while the name does suggest "aereal", I would say the 'metal" bit makes it seem unlikely. For an aerial speciallized version I would say carbon would be the choice due to the importance of weight for these applications...

I'm no good at speculating either, but I took Jarred's "Microphones and Metal" Facebook post to mean, there wasn't any. Going by the picture, there are no microphones on the front, unlike the other Weapon bodies, and the outer material could be made out of...

The microphones are hidden in the ribs.

Thanks William, I didn't see that.

No plastic RED for me then, lol.

No plastic RED for me either.

and P.S... it's lighter.

WOW. Now this is getting interesting. Maybe without the prores and higher processing boards, RAVEN has shaved a lot of weight?

Wow every gimble and drone operator may wanna hear about this.

Alexa Mini is the "B" cam to Alexa Studio jobs? Raven is looking like the drone/gimble "B-Cam" for Weapon jobs.

Except RAVEN is most likely much more affordable than an Alexa Mini, and my guess is a number of the specs are far more competetive (resolution, weight, etc).

Alexa Mini now not only has Weapon to contend with - but RAVEN too.

This is gunna be intresting.

Lighter... 4K@120... if Raven can go an hour on a Redvolt and has built-in ND's, a Raven will definitely be coming with me on my next high-altitude expedition!

Can we abandon this thread for a day to see if maybe they will release more information?
Ha, ha! As if! :bath:

A 4K micro four thirds Dragon sensor in a metal Weapon body. That would probably reduce the price a fair amount for indie-shooters and make sense in their lineup, no?
Although I doubt it, I am going to guess this, too, because it's an interesting concept. But you can't have a smaller sensor (1/4 surface area of VistaVision) without a smaller body. So if it is Micro 4/3, then the body will be smaller. Which would make it excellent for photography.

+1 ;)
Now, i want to put myself into a freezer like Cartman.

I'm no longer sure about the Raven being to Weapon what Scarlet is to EPIC. It looks like it's a DSMC2.0-replacement for what EPIC does now, maybe slightly below, but clearly above Scarlet Dragon.

Internal Motion-Mount would be something really cool, but i wouldn't bet on it.

P.S.: PRETTY PLEASE ANNOUNCE THE SIDEHANDLE TOO! :)

Just throwing this out for nostalgia's sake.

It's a R-1 styled Weaponish body with few if any modules and everything needed to take beautiful pictures Dragon style contained internally.

OK magnesium and weighs less than 3 lbs

I have to say, I was very fortunate to take a look at a couple of MG Weapons followed by one CF Weapon. The weight savings over the Epic/Scarlet body is 100% noticeable when rigged. I had one MG setup that might have been 10lbs when rigged with battery and a small PL lens. That's real lightweight.

I keep trying to focus on client deadlines instead of the looming release, helps me think about something else while im still not sleeping anyway. Maybe it's the fixed lens reborn?
