I feel like we have posted this 57 times over the last 5 years but now it really is probably time, if you havn't already done so, to start finishing, or at least preparing for finishing, in 4K.

Announcements are being made in shorter and shorter intervals. Here is today's:

NETFLIX ANNOUNCES 4K STREAMING IN THE NEXT 1-2 years

Last year we developed the 4K Laser Projector because a year ago the display industry didn't look like it was moving fast enough.

How things change..

At this years CES a few months there were literally dozens of different 4K televisions being shown by pretty much every manufacture that are either on the market now or are on their way.. and TODAY you can buy 4K displays from Amazon.com, EBAY, and Google. Prices are starting to come down from the moon.

You all know about our hardware REDRAY player that delivers incredible quality 4K over the internet at 9Mb/sec, and you will soon understand why we are putting our emphasis not only on Dragon but heavily into the REDRAY player.. why we have taken the time to get it right.. to do what nobody else can.

After being the ONLY non "computer" based 4K player being shown working at this years CES, some surprising groups have shown up on our door and this is becoming less of " the future " and more of " the now" every week that passes.

You can probably guess that in the next 6-12 months there will be alot of 4K distribution triggers being pulled by alot of different companies and I have a feeling when it does turn on its going to move quick.

I want our customers to be at the forefront..

I would love for you guys, our customers, to prosper first. Be ready.

Be ready when that "4k for the masses" switch is flicked and the distributors start calling.

All of you guys that raised your swords alongside us and yelled that 1080p wasn't enough.. Your time is coming.

Take it. You deserve it.

We true 4K does finally make it to our living rooms, I wonder what that is going to mean for your common cineplex?

How's Odemax doing?

Thats just one of the companies we are not allowed to talk about till they are ready..

You can tell its really hard for us to keep all this stuff in. The bigger these companies we start working with, the more we realize we have a very different relationship with our customers than pretty much everyone else.

We also realize everyone else is always late as well.. but nobody ever hears about it because most others don't announce stuff till engineering is complete.

I guess we are suckers for punishment to decide to publicly announce before we should and then miss almost every date we ever give :)

Yep Finally

Couldn't agree more. There's more and more coming to the 4K party. I don't think many people can even comprehend it. By the end of this year it won't even be something to have any criticism about.

1080p is just what happened. Such a damn compromise in reality. 4K is really what everybody wants.

REDRAY and particularly the .RED format really got my fluids flowing. A way simpler way to deliver high quality cinema content wrapped in one file. Simple, encrypted, compact.

Once more people can see the benefits of having a digital master projected perfectly in theaters via laser projection without copy degradation, without hot spots, without artifacts, without much color variance; we'll be in a world we've never been before. Filmmakers often never understood that piece of the whole puzzle. They didn't understand that the audience wasn't actually seeing the movie they were making.

These are all good things, but the cost benefits are great too. Just duping and delivering reels is nasty. Now you'll be able to deliver through ODEMAX or even mail out tiny SD cards with several "films" on them.

I just shot my first commercial that will have a 4K master finish. Even though for the time being it will prob be projected either 1080 or 2k depending on the movie theater's projector format before the what ever offical movie is scheduled to start. Bring on the 4K!

Jarred & Red Team,

Karen and I for one very much love knowing what is coming so we can plan ahead. The delays are very much understanable and only make us ready for field time. We love that you tell us your PASSION as you dream it, that makes you artists and this is where we all meet!

The Round Table is just becomming wider! YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!

Wow kennan those images are incredible....

4k is indeed now. Our archive footage and content is going to be worth a lot more when the native content "hunger" or floodgates open...
Concerning redray, how is the prores love going on the encoding side to.red ? :)

4K is taking over. Anyone who doesn't get that, is going to be left behind. Someone else said this months ago when Odemax was announced: this is like the pioneering days when Vimeo, 5D's and DSLRS took over. The people who jumped in early, saw their careers take off. 4K will do the same to those who go all in NOW.

Jarred, sometimes you don't know when to stop.

"Last year we developed the 4K Laser Projector because." would have been perfectly sufficient :-)

Actually, reading between the lines, that *could* be RED code for 'an announcement that we've ditched the projector is coming'...?

I do hope not.

So any update on when we will be able to take delivery of the REDRAY? NAB? Will be filming in Dominican Republic during those weeks. I'm hoping to use the player for a presentation on 4-1080 panels till I can get a 4k TV. Would love to crank out some .RED 4k footage.

Ordered within 20 min. of it going live in the store.

Thanks in advance, hoping to have it at least by a trade show I'm doing in Nov. Any chance of that?

Best,
Frazier

It's just awesome.

The same goofball from a major, high-profile, studio-owned post facility two years ago at HPA laughing at the very concept of 4K - this year at HPA is bragging out their facility being "all 4K."

It makes ZERO sense to master to 2K or HD today.

I LOVE thinking back to NAB 2006. They all laughed at RED.

And they will laugh a lot less when REDRAY hits he streets and Dragon breaths 21 stops of fire ...

4K finish it is then.
