  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Interesting, I dream of fantastic worlds, far away places, and the occasional mysterious women who's caught my eye.

The new EVF is very good. I'm very curious about some of it's potential as well, the optics are impressive. Certainly a different level.

To Matthew's original post, yes this is something we deal with pretty much on every camera these days. What seems to be most common and popular is the use of a Noga arm/RED Arm or something similar. You would need to use the Lemo Adapters to pull this off with the new tech. You also have the SDI or HDMI possibility.

You can additionally go with the new DSMC2 EVF which does mount where it should, though you'll want to balance your rig as usual. I use the Clutch in a nice way with the shoulder pad attached to the dovetail, which works great.

Have we seen the outrigger that lets you lie the monitor flat?
would love to see a rig with the evf since I use one all the time on a mini and don't see how it would be in the right place attached to the body. Thanks Phil!

Just bought the new evf, hopefully get it this year but it still says coming soon...

Thanks Phil. Can you confirm if the 7" Touch, when mounted on the side, can flip up and rotate 90 degrees to face the operator? If so, will it hit the handle? Thanks again!

I think you are missing my original intent on this thread. the probelm is not how the handle is, the problem is when you put this thing on your shoulder your face will not be able to see the monitor. with the monitor run to the handle grips of your rig with a cable you can mix it up, and be able to position the monitor in more ways

I fully understand the intent of the thread. I just figured my question/concern was relevant, as it addresses monitor placement (or change of placement) on Raven. I didn't want to start an entire new thread for something that seemed like it fit in this one. My apologies if you felt I was derailing.

Something like the attached image? You do need to rotate the LCD if you want to mount the top handle.

Very strange how none of the monitor configurations will work with a handle on top. Seems like a rather strange oversight. It's too bad that Red didn't include a the ability to rotate on the 5", as that would have solved the problem.

It does work, just not entirely how you'd think. It's more of A. How often are you looking at the monitor when it's facing down against the body? And B. The DSMC2 7.0" LCD Touch has quick release thumb bolts for fast rigging.

It's a medium thing, but not really an issue to me. Though at first I was certainly scratching my head about it.

hmmm, i guess it comes off the to the side and straight up? hows that a handle, id love to see a picture of it ON the camera, i still dont get it….
jarred has to show us the other bits he mentioned that would be shown in mid nov, and hopefully there is a side handle or something and i can not have a top handle at all, or back to designing my own.

Haha, no, the handle points down and is mounted to the top of the cam
 
oooooo they added the new Base IO with V Lock! I mean I knew it was coming but it just makes me more excited to buy with new pictures up lol
