So I've been thinking a lot about how I'm going to set up my Raven for Gimbal and Hand held work, specifically how i plan to use the 4.7 touch screen away from the brain of the camera. I mean One of the main selling points is the light weight versatile gimbal/drone cam, however it seems to me, to be able to use the monitor the way I'm used to, I will need one of these sets...

kinda expensive accessory... is there any way they can fit something like this into one of the packages? or perhaps give a discount for Raven buyers? the more i think about it the more this seems necessary...otherwise I will be stuck with a monitor that is fixed to the brain..sounds fine but not for a lot of situations..

There are many ways to mount the monitor but you have to find parts needed to reach that goal. This is what Red offers so you need to do some research and creative thing to find what you need or just buy their device.

There are no specific Raven accs, everything is Weapon based, so that's just a hard pill you'll have to swallow or turn to third parties.

I don't see why this should be included in any package and no reason for a price drop either.

I've been with RED since 2011, you'll just have to get used to paying extra for proprietary accs and media, back when I started a 256GB Redmag SSD was $3200, it's a part of their business model. That is if you want to use their stuff and not someone else's (I mean accs).

AHHH did not see this thread.. But yah i mean this should be looked at i think.. seems strange to leave out of a "ready to shoot" package

It is a ready to shoot package. The same way any other camera with a screen affixed to the body has been for the last 15 years has been ready to shoot. If you want to mount the screen away from the body you have to spend money somewhere. Either on a small SDI monitor or on these connections for full touchscreen control. This is true for pretty much every camera on the market.

W o o d e n camera has some awesome raven/ weapon stuff with more to be announced I'm sure

yah. im sure there will be a lot more to find out as we get closer Christmas, and then to NAB. Would be nice to learn if they really are coming up with different packages

Well, I'm not sure I would agree with that. I'd say the Raven is more adaptable than many. Look at a URSA or URSA Mini... you've got the LCD monitor as a flip-out module on the side. Try to put that baby on a gimbal and still control camera settings. Forget it. Or a Canon C100 Mark II... same thing - LCD screen is hard mounted to a swivel on the back. And both of those would be considered "ready to shoot". The fact that I can pull the Raven touchscreen off and remount it somewhere is is great. But I do share your mindset that $800 for that relocation functionality using Red-branded gear is a tough sell considering the 4.7" goes for $1450.

When the new monitors start to ship in numbers which is likely to happen before rave his out. Then this forum will be flooded with old monitors. That will sell for less so if the price for the small monitor is to steep with the little kit to wire it then just wait and there will be plenty of old touch to buy here even before you get the camera.

SO TRUE.. I'm hoping a few things happen by or around NAB..

#1. Lots of people will have lots of accessories from weapon credits, and will decide to sell some

#2. prices on things like the new EVF go down, or Battle tested ones come online..

#3. Some new hottness we have no clue about comes out accessory wise..

It's crazy for a guy like me who obsesses about camera rigs @@ hehe =)

I totally agree! I hope people don't think i was trying to be a wise ass with my "ready to shoot" comment, I was just like thinking about how it was when my epic came, trust me i know how other companies make stuff, is one of the reasons i get spoiled on red products. The new wireless style of the new displays is totally awesome to me, I just see a lot of situations where having that bolted on top of the brain will not be good ><. the Raven system is the Gateway for new Red Users, I suppose if nothing else this conversation will make some people aware that you can move the touch screen around, to configure on different camera rigs.

Yes those 5000USd we get as credit when upgrading will for sure cause a wave of acessoires coming loose.

I think a lot of dragon users will get rid of the included XL modules, just as they did for the quad modules and module adaptors that came in the package when upgrading from red one to epic.

I still got a un used quad module in box that I=m willing to sell for a couple of 100 bucks. Also got a EVF and a Ti mount that I will get rid of when I get weapon delivered among with some other stuff. Think Im not the only one that will do an inventory check when the weapon comes.
