  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Two local commercials :) on Scarlet

Good commercials, Just curious how you managed to get them as clients. In my experience local car dealerships don't like spending money on commercials they just go with the cheap packages that the cable company offers.

Nice work on shooting/editing. Color Grading was a bit off/inconsistent for my taste. Other than that great work, much better than local dealership commercials everyone is used to seeing.

Yes, I'm wondering the same. Almost all of the commercials I see locally are the worst of the worst and have to be done for nothing/next to nothing.

I live about 40 minutes from White Plains! Let me know if you ever need a b-cam ;)

Good spots, the grade needs work.. But the shots are there!! Don't blame the canon.. It's your color that is the issue..

Overall, good work.

If I may offer some (hopefully) constructive 2c:

Vid 1: Great work. Only thing I would change is the grade, as others have stated.

Vid 2: The male VO sounded a bit unnatural and forced. The vid speed ramping was a bit jarring and felt like there was :35 seconds of footage to fit in a :30 spot.

I also agree that these are much better than most local commercials. Again, good job!

As said, fabulous for a local dealer TVC.

Wondering if you were a bit overexposed. Not to the point of losing detail in the whites, just seemed like the dynamic range was crushed, giving it a bit of a video look. Could just be the grade or deep depth of field.

YES and YES the problem I'm having is because I grade everything in rcx, i wish I can apply the same look to the 5D mark III footage, i use 5 d for suction cup shots etc.., as far as crushed goes client choice, and yes fit 500 shots in 30 sec, client gets what he wants :)

I wish I could import 5d footage in to rcx

Nice work! It's nice to see a local dealership that doesn't have a crappy ass tv commercial for a change! :)

Excellent spots. Definitely curious how much you charged (trying to land a local car spot but have no clue what to charge for a good quality spot).

I'm going to beat a dead horse and bust you on the grade. What did you actually edit with? I know once you grade in RCX you can import it back to your editor (say FCP) and color grade the 5D footage to match your Scarlet footage. Or you can get Davinci Resolve Lite and grade in there.

Just some options. Great spots overall though.

Nice image but is it a bit blue or is it my mac?
