Brian,

Bit of market research going on at Action Products? Look forward to what you offer. Got to be lightweight enough for steadicam if you go this route, for my money. Think E/T Atom or P+S Freestyle.

3D is just a sort of fashion hype...

An example:

Here, in an exclusive Post interview, director/writer Alexander Payne talks about making the film, his love of post, and why he’ll be shooting his next film digitally.

POST: Any interest in doing a 3D film?

PAYNE: “It’d be fun, but here’s the truth about 3D — it comes around every 18 years for three years. So it’ll disappear next year and be back again in 2030.”

Also Payne will shoot his next feature on the Alexa!!!

I think 3D will be pulled trough light fields in a short future then it might grow even bigger. Since then it's not a hassle with 2 cameras etc and is only a post thing. Personally I find it a bit annoying to watch looking at 3D cinema screens is a headache, If laser projected straight into the eyes or such so it covered the whole field of view then it would be great... just my five cents on the subject.
