  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Has anyone gotten their 16gig CF cards yet? I heard that they were shipping even though I had ordered a couple an hour after they went up on the site and haven't heard a word. Is there another group going out soon, if the first wave actually made it out?
 
i would like to know this also. I ordered almost instantly they were online.
 
I ordered about a week after they came out so i would be curious what kind of time period i'm looking at as well.
Hmmmm, thinking about it, I'm not sure when they were officially announced. Anyone know what the date was that they announced the 16gig cards?
 
are the 16gig cards released by date you ordered card or does Red camera # have priority ??
 
16GB cards are shipped like all other back-ordered items. They are delivered based on when RED shipped your camera. Has nothing to do with camera # or how soon you ordered the 16GB cards.
 
I asked Nate from RED last week and he said they only sent out a very small amount so far but expected to ramp up shipping about a week and a half into August.

Hi Jeff. Could you clarify this for me? Does this mean if you had your camera shipped in the first batch you could order some 16GB cards today and have priority over someone who just recently received their camera but ordered the cards one month ago? When I saw these cards being offered on the Red site it never dawned on me that they were backordered. I assumed they were available. Forgive my ignorance. I am naive about these things. Could you spell this out for me so I understand the policy? Thanks, Francis
 
Yeah Jeff, your posting sounds vague and contradictory. I know they were supposed to have shipped out cards a couple of weeks ago but i hadn't heard of anybody actually getting them. I'd be surprised to hear that the cards were being shipped in order of camera res #.
 
received Red 103 Dec. 07 ... no word yet on 16gig cards ( other then order received ) ..
 
Curious if Red will continue the policy of shipping by camera number for every new item like 16G cards or lenses, or whatever.

Seems a bit weird and unfair to disregard when people order things and continue to follow a policy that rewards early camera owners (no offense Donatello!).

I ordered 16G cards shortly after they were announced as well, and was wondering when they would be shipping.

For accessories and post-camera orders, wouldn't make more sense, and be more fair, to simply ship based on a first order, first ship basis like any other company? Why be perpetually tied to your initial decision to buy a Red??

I understand camera upgrades, like the PL mount/audio board being linked to camera serial numbers. But accessories??

Our camera #1517 shipped 8th July. No red drives were available to buy at the time. We ordered 4 x 16GB cards as it seemed pointless buying the 8GB cards. We managed to borrow 1 x red drive last week for a 2 day shoot. RED please give us some good news on 16GB card delivery times. Our RED has been used once in the 2 months we have had it. Not having suitable recording media available sucks big time. (the 8GB cards do not suit our potential clients).
