  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

This is standard practice with all professional cameras - you buy the body, and then you will need lots of extras to make it a workable piece of equipment.

It also means you can chose what add-ons fit best to your working style. (And budget).

I understand this. But when you can get a HVX-HPX-EX1 ect which this is set at even a lower price point even a n EX 3 at 8k they all come with everything ready to shoot. I can't buy a camera and not have it come with audio it makes no sense in this day and age. If I were shooting a feature then yeah but this camera isnt marked to those folks. The epic is though idk just my opinion is all

Just wait and see the prices, specs... etc... before you start to find problems with it. You might be surprised how far $8000 goes...

Wellp, that's it for me. Perfect configuration.

Yep. Yep. I cannot live without a shoulder config, and there it is. RED, how did you take all the absurd comments and our desires and somehow seem to make everything possible?

You are developing things too perfectly too fast. Do like other companies and only release a couple minor improvements every few years or so. That is how to make cameras... right?

That's exactly why Sony and Panasonic and the rest aren't going anywhere. We'll be lucky if the Scarlet brain comes in anywhere NEAR 3k. I'm fully prepared to drop 12K for a working package.

But, if it's being marketed as a DSMC you may get lucky and see it roll in at about 3,499.99 for the body and no lens. The 5D MKII is about 2,799.99 MSRP. I think it's fair to think that the price of the body can't go up much higher than that.

We'll see.

If you try and use one of these puppies in Iraq or Afghanistan, prepared to be shot at.

And don't try and film the police officer walking up to your car when you get a speeding ticket.

Just got back from a 9 month deployment in Iraq in charge of 22 Combat Cameramen. Our specific mission is to document the war and we are dual trained in both video and photo but lugging 2 cameras around is a pain. The Scarlet solves all of our problems! :)

well no problem i hope, just anxious haha

NOTE ON CONFIGURATION: It doesn't seem to matter which brain youget, all of the accessories look like they're goin to work with either. That means you can use the V Mount and RED Drive, rails, etc between the two.

At least that's what it looks like and that's what I hope it is.

I have a feeling the price will surprise evryone, I think this camera will beat any of the competitors on price. The are going to sell millions of these

Whoa, well I wonder what the price difference in brain is...

Anyways, Jarred, is the party still going at HQ?

I love the design of every single part of this cameras!
Also the battery expansion block that makes the design clean and organized
hope non of that parts will be lost in the production process.

now we joust need to know Spec and Price and where to send the money

I bet it's less than that for just a body and no lens. The original Scarlet was $3,000 and that included a lens that we were told was going to kick ass. If a $3,000 Scarlet costs $12,000 to be useable, then Sony, Canon and the rest don't have that much to worry about.

Hey, I am really supposed to be working. Had been planning on checking the website at 3 p.m.. when the big announcement is made, but no, you have to give us all these exciting news all the time now.

Lol.

Thanks for ruining my (working) day, thanks for making my (DP) day.
