  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

13th responses here...

2,251,799,813,685,248 possibilities?

Or elsewhere in the announcement "over a trillion..."

Or from what has been announced so far:
# brains 7
EVF/monitors 5
handle yes/no 2
lens mounts 4
I/O module yes/no 2
battery options 3
recording modules 7
REDmote yes/no 2

7*5*2*4*2*3*7*2 = 23,520

Hmmm. 3 very different figures.

I think you have to use factorials...

I wish I didn't have to buy an epic to get all the things I want.

Or that the S35 or FF Scarlet could crop the sensor and overcrank to even 60fps.. It was a very sad moment when it was confirmed that 30fps was the max at ANY resolution on the non-2/3" scarlets.. just gimmie 3k, FF35, and overcranking, nikon mount, and i'll pay whatever it takes.

i'm still gonna buy a scarlet, but i would love to have all my dreams in a $7000-$10000 package. (hopefully including accessories at the $10000)

almost makes me just want to pony up for a RED One after all..

Factorials is right...

First post here. I've been following the RED for a while now and I wanted to congratulate the RED team for leading the charge and changing up the game. All the back and forth on this thread aside, this bodes well in so many ways for so many of us. And I love the way this is going to continue to shake up this industry. And about time... let the games begin!

Thanks,
Nikhil

Maths not your strong point then?

If you're willing to pay whatever it takes then you'll pay for the Epic. I think that's the point. They are a business after all.

There's no way I can afford an Epic, I'd be doing well to afford the S35 Scarlet with accessories and keep my marriage together but I understand that I can't have the Ferrari on a Chevy budget.

Jim just posted the specs. FF35 Scarlet will shoot 3K 60fps!!!

I'm interested to hear now how this is achieved, in terms of cropping or whatever.

I was surprised the 3K Scarlet doesn't have a PL mount for Super-16mm lenses. Am I missing something here or would that not be possible?

Well, they'll sell PL mounts. No one will stop you from attaching one on a 2/3" sensor thingie.

No.

It was clearly stated at the Red event by Ted, and mentioned several times in this thread... 30 fps is the MAX that Scarlet will do. At ANY res.

Every Spec you see or hear is likely to change around over the next while..... so don't get too attached to them.

Hey Jim, as a suggestion you may want to also clarify "burst mode" beside the 3K, 1-120fps to avoid any potential confusion.

That Scarlet FF35 is sure looking sweet.

Yes it is!

That wouldn't make much sense - even wide Nikon lenses would become tele on 2/3".

Yes it's not ideal, but in some cases (most of the cases I deal with) I need the long end of things, so I'd like to have it as an option if I can't afford the mini-RED lenses up front...
