What were the defects if you don't mind me asking

quite a few color spots on the screen. Some were faint, others not so much. I strongly suggest not going with the 55". Go with the 50" and you'll be much happier. Defects aside, the 50" has a better picture IMO

the 50" SE50UY04 for $625.37 with free shipping...

Seiki must be attempting to going after every Mac Pro buyer with this price point, in Apple's absence.

I am simply stunned at the value/price point.

I'd nab it up if i was you. Great display for the price. Nothing even comes close. I calibrated it as close as I could and it's decently close to my thunderbolt display. It's more of a reference monitor for me anyways...a 4K reference monitor that is. hehe

Prices are back up.. 39 inch was like $405 now its back to $499.. 50 inch was like $624 now its back to $734. Sears still has the 50 inch for $664:

I just received my Seiki Digital SE39UY04 39-Inch 4K Ultra HD 120Hz LED TV from Amazon and I'm having troubles getting 4k resolution. I'm using the HDMI cable that came with.

Laptop: Acer Aspire V3-771, bought it barely 9-10 months ago.

I have Windows 8.1.

The guys in this video gets the 4k-resulution directly when they connect the HDMI 4.1 that came in the box. I checked the settings but I can't find anything.
So please help me, and don't say I cant get 4k because of my graphics card et.c. would get very sad because I really want the 4k-resolution. In that case - worst case scenario, how easy is it go get a new graphics card that supports 4k installed in my laptop?

When I check this review and see the http://www.terracode.com/Seiki_SE39UY04_review/images/1080P_120Hz_Setting.jpg (look further up for my own settings) it seems like I can't even access the settings for using the 4k-resolution.

After downloading a new Intel graphics drivers I can now get 2560x1440 by 30 Hz, but that's not exactly what I wanted. I right-clicked and made a custom resolution using the Intel settings, not the NVIDIA settings. And when I tried doing a 3840x2160 it didn't work at all...


I tried two other HDMI cabels, and no improvement there so it's obviously not a cable problem.

Tried lots of drivers both on other sites and on NVIDIA's offical. No improvement.





Please help, I really want this to work!

Maybe disable the intel HD 4000 and disable the the automatic switchover between descrete/nondescrete graphics (Optimus?) ? That is the only suggestion I would have.

My mac book pro retina is also a geforce gt 650m and it has no problems driving 4k in linux and windows but the GPU switchover thing doesn't work on those. Mac os X has issues unless I use a active DP -> HDMI 1.4 adapter (accel). If it was me I would try strait nvidia as the gt 650m should be capable.

Your Acer doesn't support 4K over a single HDMI cable...it's an issue with the Intel chipset and how it handles HDMI. The latest Intel chipset (Haswell) does add support for this.

Damn, that's was too bad. Guess I need to buy a new laptop then. Well at least I got 2560x1440...

Anyone got any tips of laptops (no Mac's) that have at least i7-processor and 16-32 GB with RAM and support 4k?

So I've been trying to find the answer (maybe I'm not looking hard enough?) to whether this TV can playback 24fps 4k content off of a gtx 770m i7 laptop with hdmi out and it would appear that the holdup is at the TV end since it can only do 30hz at 4k and not 24hz and that 24fps footage is juddery on these sets. Is that correct? If so, then this TV is useless if one wants to showcase 24fps 4k footage right?
