Is there such a thing?

Upgrading matteboxes and am looking for these things

Lightweight
2 x 4x5.65 rotatable trays
1 x 138mm ring
Handles lenses up to 16mm

Doesn't have to be clip on but would awesome if it was.
I like Chroziel but their website is so confusing, and I like the Oconn mattebox but it doesn't seem to cover wide lenses.

Any other suggestions would be great.

The O-Box covers the same as most any other mattebox with the same layout. There would be no reason just to clip coverage.

If you need more coverage than the O-Box offers in the same size envelope, you need to go to a matte box without any rotating stages. Losing the layer or two of metalwork between the filter frames will gain you a bit of coverage.

"Lenses up to 16mm:" Focal length isn't the only factor. What covers a 16mm T2.1, may very well not cover a 16mm T1.4, and zooms often have different requirements than primes -- for example, you need big 6.6x6.6 filters to cover a 24-290 Optimo, but 4x4 filters will cover any 24mm prime. Is there a particular 16mm in mind?

Cheers,

Jim

Thanks Jim! The DP 16-42... I have 4x5.65 filters but have never used this lens outside of the rental house, so no idea what the appropriate mattebox is.

You won't find a clip on that'll do (2) 4x5.65 and one round 138mm. I've used the Chrosziel 456 three stage (all rotating) clip on. Can't tell you how many times it got bumped and came off. Also the light leak between stages wasn't good. The O Box at two stages is a well priced clip on but if you go three stage, you will lose some angle, but still cover 18mm.

Personally, I prefer swingways for a few reasons. Faster and more convenient for lens swaps. No stress on the lens or mount, especially if something impacts the MB. MB 20 is my swingway of choice. I like clip on's for certain gigs, run/gun and steadicam. Perhaps get a good swingway and an inexpensive clip on (Birns & Sawyer).

Another clip on to consider is an LMB 15 with three stages. The stages don't rotate but you could buy a rotating pola tray. I find these the best solutino for weight and build.
