  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

+1 Module shipping next week

I would wait for the test results first. There may not be enough power...

Anyone knows what cable to get to power a SmallHD DP6 from the +1 module? Like some Lemo-to-JAG35 or Lemo-to-NP-FV70 (cause I have the dual battery plate on the back of the monitor)? Thanks!

Maybe this?

There's loads of D-Tap-to-JAG35 cables around, when can we get powering cables from RED for all our monitor and sound accessories?! :)

Tuesday it will be on RED.COM for order. We are going to release some EVF bundles at the same time with great pricing for those that have waited to by an EVF till this module was released.

DANG! Just received my EVF last week... Think I could get any love from my bomb squad rep?

An EVF + PRO IO bundle would be great!

You can disable it.. but the module has a hard connection into the HDMI port.. so if you want to use the HDMI port on the brain for something else, you will need to remove it. HD-SDI port is still open and available though. If you want both an extra monitor port and the HDMI port, then you move up to the Pro/io module.

Ok so theres a physical plug from the +1 to the HDMI port and the ports are selectable in the menu. HDMI & additional EVF port only possible simultaneously with the Pro/io. So to use HDMI you need to unplug an HDMI cable, leave it loose and go into the menu to enable the VF socket ?

The remaining burning a few here have is the amperage on the DC out socket and what can we expect to run from the port?

Thanks

Jarred, will RED be making a V-mount plate that can attach directly to the module without need for backpack?
It would be a great money saver and feel better about using RED products for power.

I agree. Will be waiting for this.

I believe there was one in the works a few months back (talking about it around the time of the price drops). I'd love an update on this, I've been holding off on the VF plate, but it's getting to the point where I can't wait all that much longer. Pleeaase :)

There are a lot of things that one might *THINK* should be stock on the camera, but that is what the DSMC system is all about... brain plus components and modules that YOU need... One of the VERY best things about the RED system is the modularity. So don't complain about but rather appreciate the fact that Red does it this way. You build the camera based on the components and modules you need and I'll build mine the way I need.

so your brain washed too... gotcha...

So even if you disable the second EVF/LCD port, you don't get your HDMI back unless you physically remove the +1 Module?

Let's say I buy the +1 Module because I typically shoot Bomb, 9" Touch, and Quad Battery Module. Then a shoot comes along where I need Bomb, HDMI, and Quad Battery Module. I'd have to go out and buy the regular old module adapter for that shoot?

That's a shame. It'd be really nice to be able to use the +1 Module as a "dumb" module adapter. Something that might be fixable in firmware one day?

heh heh heh.. where is my camera when I need it :)

I'm under the impression this module replaces the existing module adapter, so no need to swap it when you attach other modules, like the Quad Battery module...

I believe the question is: if you can deactivate the module so the HDMI in the brain is functional again (without the need to unmount the +1)
Jarred said that you "need to remove it".

...if you want to use the HDMI port on the brain for something else, you will need to remove it...

So the question is: if we want to use the HDMI port plus any additional modules (say: dual battery, side SSD) do we need to swap back to the dumb adapter in order to make use of the HDMI port again.
Switching out and keeping both adapters seems unpractical. hence the question :)
