Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)
Thanks for sharing, and welcome to the family!
I’m also a Nikon stills user, and have long relied primarily on Nikon F/G mount as my standard for adapted lenses.
Excited to see where the collaboration goes…
If you prefer the look of the Helium, no reason not to go with it. It’s just as amazing a machine as it was the day it came out.
As far as pros/cons, it otherwise depends what you want to do with your camera. But just to state the obvious, the Helium offers higher resolution (max 8k@60fps)...
I’m sorry, that’s a terrible feeling when something like that happens mid-shoot!
I think you’ve taken the correct steps. The other thing I’d do is just to make sure all the LCD tools are off.
Have you tried recording footage? Does the footage look ok? Does an external monitor show the same thing?
Agreed. I love that the data is now viewable, and I’d like to be able to adjust how and where it appears. Most of all, I’d also love to see it on the OG Komodo.
I had a very good experience working with the regular (if that word applies) T-tuned Blackwing set last year, excited to see what they come up with on this and future projects.
In theory I like the concept of tunable lenses, though in practice I haven’t actually done anything with it outside of...
Not 100% sure I understand what you’re asking, but this doesn’t sound like something that could be made. If you’re putting an EF mount lens on an EF mount camera, there’s no room for a filter unit in between. These types of drop-in filter mounts are predicated on having the space between a...
I gather that the cable won't connect to the camera at all-- it'd only be between the battery and the DJI unit, right? And the DJI units are only mechnically connected to the camera and lens, right? So how would it fry the camera?
Please don't take this as an answer-- I'm really wondering if...
I have both cameras, definitely the locking mount on the X is much more solid and virtually eliminates play.
I still add a support when using PL lenses (where I am likely to have a higher torque focus motor or a heavier lens). Just want to note that Bright Tangerine says their lens adapter...
All you can really do is search the marketplace here and on ebay. The value is what people are willing to pay-- but they might derive that value from a plan for actual use, or they might need a spare body for parts.
I don't know that this heralds, but I think there are exciting possibilities alongside the dangers. For the time being, at least, I don't think Red disappears as a brand because it's what gets Nikon onto professional sets, where they don't yet have a track record. Of course, this brand equity...
Sony E has a flange distance of 18mm.
LPL has a flange distance of 44mm.
(PL is 52mm, for reference.)
What other mount has a 44mm flange depth? Canon EF. So if you can’t adapt a lens to Canon EF, you probably can’t adapt it to LPL. (I’m out of my depth here, but maybe there could be a trick...
My main takeaways:
1) hire a good creative team
2) test your camera
3) use $100k worth of lights and grip to deal with shortcomings in dynamic range :-)
Excited to try it for myself, but this is a very useful starting point for me as a way to think about it. (I'm not planning to buy the camera, but see it as an attractive rental-- which means that my advance testing would be pretty shallow.) Thank you!
