    Longer Drive Cables

Where did we end up with this? Jarred? I was on my 3-axis Weaver today and needed to mount the drive in a place where the cable wouldn't go... Also, the option of a straight connector on the drive side would be good too... Not that you guys aren't already busy... ;) Cheers, Harry

    Imax Filmout!

Here are some photos of me on a shoot this week for Norvartis. Prelight today. The end result will be filmed out to IMAX. I'm holding the film from a test that we shot last month to test the process. I was working and could not attend yesterday's screening but apparently everyone was mightily...

    RedAlert! Blank Screen

Hey there. RedAlert! had been working fine for me. I installed the new version that was up a couple of days ago, and now the viewer screen will only show the clip for a second, then the screen goes black. the program won't crash but I cannot see the clip. Any ideas? Cheers, Harry

    Weather Protector

Hey all... I had been exchanging some emails with Lee of Custom Upholstery: http://customupholsteryproducts.com/ They make some nice barneys and weather protectors. He's indicated that they need a camera "in shop" to design barneys and rain covers. Since I'm East-Coast yo, I cannot help here...

    Position Of Burn-In

Hey there. I'm getting ready for a big job next week where we'll be using Redcine to output files as we go. I can slide the TC burn-in around at will, but the reel number stays planted on the left. I have a very nice editor who is requesting that I center both values in case he has to send a 4x3...

    Bad Take Frame Removal

Here's a question. We're doing stop motion animation of figurines. I'm using a remote trigger (thank you Wes aka Pana-Tech!) and it's all working really well. I just click the trigger for each frame. At the end of the sequence, I "close" the file by clicking the rear run button on the camera...

    Stop Motion Artifact

Hey guys... Just for fun I shot a little stop motion while shooting live action. There's a wierd artifact. It appears on adjacent frames to this but not all frames. There is always a clean band with no artifact in the center of the frame. I'll post on RedRelay as well. Any ideas? 4K 2:1, 4300 K...

    "Extension" Power Cable?

Anyone buy this item from the Red Store?: http://www.red.com/store/product_detail/80 It is described as a DC Power Cable. I should have paid more attention to the photo. I guess what I needed was an "extension" power cable... i.e. with a female on one side. I was going to use it with the power...

    i Support

Jim/ Jarred/ Red Team... What's the timetable to implement the Cooke i Data hardware and software on the cameras? Is that a build 15 thing, or later? I know that when the time comes, the contact module is to be shipped, but I'm just curious about the incorporation of the metadata in the r3d...

    RE: Ghetto Workflow?

RE: Ghetto Workflow? Considering the laborious workflow presented with Redcine etc., might not a more "ghetto" workflow for us lowly folk in the second-tier commercial and corporate film world be the use of the Quicktime proxies? Cut, render, color and finish without ever touching the r3d file...

    Tungsten Sensor

I know it's never gonna happen but it's snowing outside and I have the day off so I'll start a gratuitous thread here... In the next version of the camera, it would be great if we had the option of choosing a tungsten-balanced sensor. It's effortless to put on an 85 filter, with minimal light...

    RE: Formatting Menu Prompt

RE: Formatting Menu Prompt Just a quick suggestion to the team... If you mount a drive or CF card that already has clips on it and attempt to reformat, the camera warns you that there are already clips and you will erase them. "Do you still want to format?" The two choices below are "format"...

    Redcine Hardware Encoder?

OK, here's a thought... Rather than struggle with stability on the myriad configurations and OSes to cross-check and program for, what if Red made a hardware encoding solution that could be CONTROLLED from a Mac or PC? Then they could build it as a bulletproof system, capable of cross-conversion...

    D-20 v. Red Filmout Test

I did some very simple tests yesterday at CSC in New York with my Red vs. a D-20, for a project that will film out to IMAX. Next week they will look at the Genesis and the F23. Short clips of each will be filmed out and we'll screen them in IMAX. I'm not sure it was an entirely fair test because...

    Standard 16mm Lenses Work!

No time to post pictures... working (with a D-20 ironically) But I did have time this morning to slap up my good old 9-50 Cooke and 10-100 Zeiss lenses. The both cover in 2K windowed! The Cooke covers completely, at all focal lengths, focus and iris settings. The Zeiss covers completely from...

    Export Single Shot In Redcine?

OK, I ran around and collected another 6 or 7 shots on a CF card. I've loaded them into Redcine. I would like to export a single specific shot to speed up my testing process. Every time I click the GO! icon the render starts at the first clip, no matter which one is loaded in the viewer. Does it...

    What Am I Doing Wrong?

Hey... Played around with the camera. Have some footage. Looks great in Redcine. Apply a look, set to render, and export a Quicktime. Regardless of settings, the Quicktime is cropped, squished, noisy, and black-and-white. I've tried H.264, DVCPro HD, both 1080 and 720. Hmmmm... Slushed back to...

    RE: Card Not Recognized?

RE: Card Not Recognized? Hey... So my first Red One footage is of my kids goofing off last night after I assembled the camera. I can play it back fine on the camera, but when I put it into the Lexar Pro FW 800 reader that so many have recommended here, the iMac in the kitchen says it "cannot...

Idea For Another Cradle Mount Type Thing

Hey... I have an idea that might help some of us who may want to switch quickly from the Quickplate to the Cradle, or handheld with no drive to quickly mounting a drive. Why not a separate drive mount? You could (for instance) mount a Quickplate on the rear, and this drive mount on the top. You...
